The cancellation of a fashion show did not stop Ann Hawthorne @ticketsplease from strutting on what would have been our runway setting in beautiful Stewart Park... on Sunday. Ann is wearing her own dress that she was to have modelled in the show. Ann screen printed the raw silk about 10 years ago at a workshop in Toronto. Her Inspiration is from a Gustav Klimt painting. I took the same painting as my inspiration for the dress. The dress is a classic 6 Panel Princess line with a fit and flare silhouette Any body type can wear this flattering dress! The matching jacket is cut short( just below) the bust line and fastened with 3 buttons. The jacket length was inspired by the painting and I was running out of fabric as well! It is with a heavy heart that I am canceling my retrospect 33 Year Anniversary Fashion Show that was to have been held in Stewart Park on Sunday September 20 at... 2 pm. The numbers are going up in Ontario and I completely agree with the Ford Governments decision to lower the number on events. As a small business owner I would like to take this opportunity to ask you to support small business. Local economy is the best economy I would like to thank all the guests who did not hesitate to register for the show not once but twice! This gives me great confidence in the future. I would like to thank Queen Bee Millinery who has been creating many new fall and bridal designs for the show. Please stop into her boutique on Gore St and take a look at her new designs. Please consider making a donation to The Table Food Community Centre instead of donating when you entered the park for my show. COVID has made us aware of the weaknesses in our society. We kicked off Wandering Wednesdays 2.0 by sipping on hot chocolate, watching the leaves change in the park and remembering a National icon. At the Wilson Street... entrance to Stewart Park, just feet from our storefront, you can find the Big Ben Memorial Statue. The beautiful bronze statue commemorates of one of the greatest horse-rider partnerships in sports history. It was built in honour of Olympic equestrian, Ian Millar, who resides just outside of our quaint town, and the championed Big Ben, a horse who won all of our hearts.
