I wonder what we mean by a new year. Is it a fresh year, something that has never happened before? When we say something new, though we know that there is nothi...ng new under the sun, when we talk about a happy new year, is it really a new year for us? Or is it the same old pattern repeated over and over again? Same old rituals, same old traditions, same old habits, a continuity of what we have been doing, still are doing, and will be doing this year. So, is there anything new? Is there anything that is really afresh, something that you have never seen before? This is rather an important question, if you will follow it - to turn all the days of our life into something which you have never seen before. That means a brain that has freed itself from its conditioning, from its characteristics, from its idiosyncrasies and the opinions, and the judgements, and the convictions. Can we put all that aside and really start a new year? It would be marvellous if we could do that. Because our lives are rather shallow, superficial, and have very little meaning. We are born, whether we like it or not we are born, educated - which may be a hindrance too. Can we change the whole direction of our lives? Is that possible? Or are we condemned forever to lead rather narrow, shoddy, meaningless lives. We fill our brains and our lives with something which thought has put together. This is not a sermon. Probably in all the churches of the world, New Year will be - and in all the temples and the rest of it - they will continue in the same old way, the same old rituals, pujas and so on and so on. Can we drop all that and start anew with a clean slate and see what comes out of that, with our hearts and minds? J. Krishnamurti #krishnamurti #newyear

We must free ourselves from the shackles of intergenerational trauma, capitalize on intergenerational resilience and creativity and evolve further yet. This requires a liberated brain. A quiet mind.

Time and place for everything, for sure. If you’re always judging your breath as ‘wrong’ or incorrect or needing to be fixed every time you notice it, this is t...he message your brain sends to your body every time you relate to your breath this way. Poor body! It breathes about 20000 breaths per day without you telling it to. It sure is doing something right, isn’t it? If we habitually try to fix our breath, we might lose access to what it’s telling us about our nervous system state and what resources need to come in to support the whole body. We open to listening instead of fixing and learn that our breath reflects what’s going on in our psyche and how it’s presenting can lead us to more fundamental, loving lasting ways to deal with chronic or traumatic stress. More on this and much much more with Breathe Better - Jennifer Snowdon and my webinar starting in January TRAUMATIC STRESS AND THE BREATH. I so appreciate how Jennifer brings a trauma informed lens to Buteyko Breathing! https://www.janeclapp.com//traumaticstressandthebreathjan2 See more

Stay connected whatever you do. Do not let doctors and politicians rule. Turn to your own inner wisdom and choose carefully which scientists to believe, which politicians to trust. I choose Michael Leavitt, AOC, Mary Trump, EFT, somatic experiencing, IFS, AEDP, CBT and above all Love and Truth.

This is a hard time for parents. Our illustrator, Dr. Melissa, has created a useful tool for kiddos who get caught up with "perfect". Just like our Becca books,... useful ACT therapeutic techniques are embedded throughout! Please share widely with appropriate credit. We believe that everyone should have access to tools that help us and our kiddos live more flexibly!

Anger is a signal and one worth listening to. Our anger may be a message that we are being hurt, that our rights are being violated, or simply that something is... not right. Our anger may be a message that we are compromising too much of our self in a relationship. Our anger may be a signal that we are doing more or giving more than we can comfortably do or give. Or our anger may warn us that others are doing too much for us at the expense of our own competence and growth. Our anger can motivate us to say no to the ways we are defined by others, and yes to the authentic needs and desires of our own self. Anger signals the necessity for change, and thus our anger can be threatening to those who want to maintain the status quo. See more

Surrender is sweet. It restores joy which is blocked by stifled emotion and resistance.

Love, one's self love, the love of family and friends, the love of an animal, the love of a stranger heals and sets free the wounded child or adult so often overlooked . Love can only do its magic if we have the courage to let it in, welcome it, bask in and savour it. Protect and nurture the "lover" within. It is the lives of the lovers that matter. Have the willingness to learn what matters and who matters. Let love rule. Love this planet. Love Life.

Successful relationships require independence and interdependence. Like these two out for a stroll we need our own space and identity and connectedness. We need to walk tall, communicate clearly, know our unique beauty and intelligence and acknowledge the unique qualities of our beloved. We then co-create a life of beauty.

Every cloud has a silver lining. How can you open to greater fulfillment during this time of being housebound and underemployed? Perhaps this is the time to write poetry, paint, do stained glass art, compose music, arrange flowers, zoom with new found friends, enjoy your children and engage with pets. Be sure to also consider how to provide food to those without.

Plant based foods block viral binding, including the corona virus. They also optimize the immune system our defense against disease. So saturate your cells with fruits and vegetables and eliminate or reduce the consumption of meat and fish. Get rest. Exercise and MANAGE STRESS.

The flowers, trees, mountains, are not in lock down. When we care for ourselves and our animals, we will cease getting viruses that come from animals. When we are stewards care-taking the earth instead of exploiting and destroying it we will be healthy again. We truly are in this together. Time for Unity not divisiveness. Time for love not war. Time for Truth not lies. Time to focus on wellness not disease. For telehealth life coaching online contact me at emotionalselfcare.ca

FYI a self help tool to use. Staying calm is an important contributor to wellness. This is a time to strengthen all prevention skills such as getting much needed sleep, superior nutrition (plant based with few sauces and spices and needless ingredients), stretching exercises of some sort, aerobic activity even if it is jogging on the spot, and fresh air. Even with social distancing we can go for walks outdoors or read dressed warmly on a balcony, verandah or yard.

During these challenging times we need to be creative, compassionate and CALM. Reawaken the magic within You were born with it It got churched out... educated out spanked out shamed out bullied out by those who never had it and those in whom it has withered TAKE BACK YOUR POWER
