What is fibre? You may hear the words "eat more fibre" often. But there are a few different types of fibre to be aware of: 1. Insoluble fibre: Absorbs water, softens our stool and helps with bowel emptying. This is found in: nuts and seeds, whole grains, and fruit skin. ... 2. Soluble fibre: helps us to stay full! It slows down the emptying process in our stomachs and has been shown to stabilize blood sugar and help manage cholesterol. These include: oats, veggies, fruits and legumes! 3. Resistant Starch: Helps to feed our good bacteria! It can be found in cooked & cooled rice and potatoes and underripe bananas. What's your favourite fibre?! See more

A great article about the benefits of beef liver! While it's not something most of us would put on our plate, it's worth a try. When purchasing, always know where it's coming from and trust the source (I use a Vancouver company called Meatme for all of my meat). https://www.mindbodygreen.com/articles/beef-liver-benefits

LETS CHAT ORGAN MEATS! Now, before you jump to ew just hear me out! I’ve been consciously trying to add more organ meats in my diet over that last few months for a few reasons: 1. They’re ridiculously nutrient dense. While each organ has a different nutrient profile, you can be sure that you’re getting a plethora of vitamins & minerals. When compared to normal muscle meat, it’s pretty astounding.... 2. It’s ridiculously cheap. Especially when we compare nutrient:dollar ratio. You get more bang for your buck! 3. It takes the whole animal approach to eating. Waste not, want not, right? One tip to purchasing organ meats: buy organic, grass fed/finished, pasture raised, etc. I use @meatme.ca monthly, so I know where I’m getting all of my meat from & trust the sources. Do you do organ meats?! P.S. pictured here: chicken hearts with mushrooms and onions in a mushroom gravy sauce.

This is an excellent question, and one I've been talking with a lot of people about! We're told that ovulation occurs at the mid-point between bleeding cycles (usually between days 10-14 if you have a regular cycle). But that's not always the case! If you are trying to naturally prevent or plan a pregnancy, it's important you know your actual ovulation window. Here are some ways to find out! My favourite ways to know when you're ovulating: ... temperature tracking! You may have a dip in your temp can indicate ovulation is happening. Otherwise, you’ll notice it after it happens (it will rise). That’s why being consistent with tracking is important to see your monthly patterns. cervical mucus: if it's egg-white-y, you're likely ovulating LH strip tests. These tell you if you are producing the luteinizing hormone which indicates ovulation. You can learn more about how to determine ovulation dates and whether or not you actually do ovulate monthly in my Whole-Body Hormone Balance program! See more

Did anyone see my post last week about making REAL FOOD your 2021 priority? Here's proof that you can make real food, real simple & real quick! INGREDIENTS:... 2 heads of broccoli, sautéed or roasted (I usually cook broccoli in a massive amount at the beginning of each week to use wherever) 2 cups of brown rice pasta, chickpea pasta, cooked smoked salmon carrot top pesto (carrot tops, olive oil, raw or roasted garlic, nutritional yeast, walnuts or pine nuts and salt, all combined in a food processor) Add all items, except pesto, to a frying pan with olive oil. Cook until salmon is cooked through, plate & mix with pesto. NOTE: You can also use store bought pesto EASY PEASYvLEMON SQUEEZY (if you want a little extra zest!) See more

Eating for fertility First step: It's important to start thinking about this stuff EARLY! The earlier you can set up your diet for pregnancy, the better. If you are hoping to start trying for a baby in the next year, start thinking about your diet now. Do you have underlying gut health issues that need help? Do you have a regular period? How are your PMS symptoms?... These are all good questions to start addressing now. It can make your pregnancy a little better, and ensure you seek the help you need in advance. Also, having an ND, acupuncturist or holistic nutritionist in your corner before, during, and after can be helpful for your health and the health of your baby. Here are a few of my favourite tips to support fertility: Try to consume cooked foods! Incorporate lots of nutrient-rich veggies Start your day with 20-30g of protein Eggs are high in numerous vitamins and minerals that can support fertility Pair your carb-rich foods (even fruits) with a fat or protein like nuts Save these simple tips and tricks for later... or now! @marcobrito . . . . #eatingbetweenlines #foodsforfertility #fertilitysupport #fertility #hormonehealth #hormonebalance #womenshealth See more
