Congratulations on OC Transpo and starting on the long road to electrifying the Transit Fleet via the purchase of 4 e-buses for delivery in early fall next year. Yes, these buses will save lots of money on operational costs including the cost of diesel.

The Feds contributed over$26m and the province another $22m to Oakville's initiative. Catherine McKenna, federal minister of Infrastructure and Communities had this to say: The investment in new buses, charging stations, onboard Wi-Fi and scheduling software in Oakville will improve the quality of lives for residents, get cars off the road and help electrify their transit systems. She's one of Ottawa's own, she is more than willing to help us electrify our fleet, IF ONLY WE... WOULD ASK!! OCTranspo's incredible lack of ambition and foresight means our City will continue to be laggards instead of leaders in environmental initiatives. Shame!

Another e-bus project in Ontario...when is Ottawa going to get on board?

Chile is deploying e-buses...how many do we have in Ottawa? Oh yes, that would be zero :( I guess Chili has more money or something else we don't have here...

"Reage said each electric bus would yield $24,000 in savings per year due to reduced maintenance costs." Not bad. Our estimate for OC Transpo is 20k per year on maintenance...and 30k per year on "fuel".
