When I was in Chefchaouen, Morocco in 2017, I passed these two women at a market place selling hay to feed the goats and sheep. I had to take a picture of them because I knew instantly they would become a painting. I had to take a picture of this painting this past weekend when I was at the cottage. I painted it many years ago and it now hangs at the cottage because it includes our family member 'Masker ' -Our loved Border Collie', who we had for 13 years while the kids were little. I was painting a still life in the living room one night focusing on an empty blue chair and the surrounding area. This is my fourth Morocco painting and the third in the larger series. This is the north western city of Chefchaouen, also known as The Blue City", the blue is said to symbolize the sky and heaven. I was completely inspired by the buildings, painted in various shades of blue, winding streets and passageways. We were there just before their high holiday of Eid-Al-Adha were goats and sheep were brought home and kept on balconies and roof tops until the feast.
