EASTER WEEKEND HOURS! Thursday 10:30-5 Friday 10:30-5 Saturday 10:30-2 (cinnamon roll day!)... Your Easter pre-orders and kids cookie club kits will be ready for pick up anytime during those hours! Things are 'hopping' in here this week and we're anticipating a very busy weekend. We look forward to making your Easter weekend a little sweeter!

Well, today was a bit of a sad day for us. Many of you know Kelly & Nic who have been a part of our Emily Mae's family for some time now, pretty well since the beginning of this cookie venture. They, along with their daughter, are off onto a new adventure and will be moving out to the East Coast, Nova Scotia! ... Today was Kelly's last day and there were definitely some tears shed. This beautiful, creative, talented and true 'foodie' has been by my side for so long. From many late nights at my kitchen table, to being that calm when I needed it most, especially in those early days when we would take on more than we could really handle! At the shoppe, she took on the roll of keeping us all organized with lot's of lists, double checking we had all the right numbers and creating/perfecting many of our Emily Mae's recipes (hello 'nutty buddy'!). Kel's sweet demeanour, knowledge of food & flavour and kind soul will truly be missed in the shoppe. Her husband, Nic, aka 'techieGuy Nic' helped bring our Friday night' Cookie Lookie' to life. From starting this at my kitchen table, to gaining a faithful group of dedicated Cookie Lookie fans (from around the world) that looked forward to spending an evening with us each week. I'm sure that some of our friends truly tuned in just to interact with him, he sure is a crowd favourite! Cookie Lookie friends, fear not - we will work out something to interact with Nic from afar! Nic also took a role in helping with many other 'techie' things and created our Emily Mae's logo. Thank you both for everything you have done to help grow and create our incredible Emily Mae's community. We love you and truly wish you all the very best... and now we will all have an excuse to visit the beautiful East Coast of Canada!

Wow. Well, today sure was a tough day for Ontario. After the announcement from the Premier, we quickly reached out to our local health unit to see where this news left us. Because we make food, we are able to remain open, following the restrictions we've kept in place for many months now. We fall in line with the same regulations of other food service establishments. ... We will continue to do absolutely everything we can to keep our staff and customers safe. - curbside service will be available - only ONE family/household or person at a time in the shoppe - PLEASE sanitize your hands upon entry - wear your MASK - our staff will do the picking of product for you - commonly touched surfaces will be sanitized regularly - the bench has been removed from the front of the shoppe - if a line forms, please keep your distance and wear your mask (we are responsible for managing that this is happening) For now, our hours will continue to be: Thursday 10:30-5 Friday 10:30-5 Saturday 10:30-2 Please help us continue to service you in the best way we possibly can, by following the guidelines above. We are truly grateful for all of your support and patience as we all navigate through these constant changes. Our hearts are heavy for our community and all of the businesses that quickly need to change gears to survive this. These times are not easy and we are all so very tired. Please remember to treat each other with kindness, and we will do our very best to keep bringing a little joy in a time when it is so very much needed.

We are looking to HIRE a BAKER! This position would require a minimum of 25 hours a week, with great potential for more. We are a creative, passionate, motivated and hard working team that is looking for someone with the same passion and attention to detail that we try our best to consistently bring to our customers. ... This position requires someone to be comfortable with being on their feet, maintaining basic kitchen cleaning duties, lifting heavy bags of ingredients, to have a passion for creativity in flavour, and able to work at a quick and efficient pace. A baking position is a very physical job, lot's of dough rolling, lifting etc. Baking/kitchen experience preferred. We are looking to fill this position as quickly as possible! Thank you for your patience (waiting in the cold!) while we worked through some long lines this week. We heard many stories from customers that were dropping off treats to family and friends they wouldn't be able to see this weekend. It's truly heartwarming to help you celebrate in this way when things are so different for us all, not being able... to gather as we always have. GOOD NEWS! We can OPEN to the public for WALK IN business! THIS SATURDAY from 10:30-2, we'll be open for YOU with decorated cookies, cupcakes and some other delicious treats. After inquiring with the health unit this week, we were given the go ahead to open as we primarily sell food. ... As we have been doing since re-opening last summer, we'll be following strict health measures to help keep us all safe. This means... - one person or family at a time in the shoppe - everyone MUST sanitize hands upon entering - properly worn masks are mandatory - we'll do the shopping for you (to limit touching product) - all items will be pre-packaged and ready to go We will CONTINUE to post a weekly menu on our website if you would like to pre order and pick up curb side. Ordering on the website will continue to go up Sunday evening and stay open until Tuesday night - with pick up being that Friday and Saturday. Local delivery is also an option now! Or here's an idea for you! You are always welcome to call the shoppe on Friday or Saturday (during shoppe hours) and we can help pick out some cookies for you over the phone. Upon arrival, just pull up out front of the shoppe and we'll bring out the terminal for quick and easy payment! Our staff will be taking extra precautions to make you feel as safe as possible! A special story was shared with us this week about how cookies have been bringing joy to a family that is going through a very difficult time. We truly believe that it's more than a cookie. It's a moment of joy, something to look forward to and adds a little magic to a world where it's so needed right now.

Help! Please Read! We would LOVE to know what sort of treats you would like to enjoy or have to gift over the next few weeks! Now that we are in lockdown (again!), we unfortunately have to close our little shoppe to the public. BUT, we are thankfully still able to provide CURB SIDE service! ... We have been through this for months before, offering DIY kits, surprise boxes and more..... ... but we'd love to have your input here! We've got lot's of ideas for you, including an at-home (virtual) decorating class for the kiddos and possibly a separate adult one, offering a week of 'your favourites' that you'd find regularly in store, surprise boxes and more! HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! We hope that you have been able to enjoy a time of rest over the Holidays, whatever that may have looked like for you this year! I've been struggling a bit with wrapping my head around all that perspired this past year. It was an absolute whirlwind of change & uncertainty, a roller coaster ride that you would not want to line up for again. I'm not sure why, but I'm feeling internally challenged to wear my heart on my sleeve tonight. ... One thing this past year has been certain, the support we have received though it all has been overwhelming. To be honest, I think I've taken 'supporting local' for granted in the past. I think it may be easy to do so if you don't feel like you are 'directly affected' by it, or don't know anyone personally who has a small local business. The truth is, we are all directly affected by it. I've made some incredible connections with many small businesses owners in the past few years and have come to realize they truly are the 'heart' of our city. There are SO many incredible local places, not just downtown, but throughout our beautiful city & county. They are so passionate about what they do, what they work so hard for, and the community they serve. It's true.. we've made it through. Not necessarily stronger though. Continued fear, sleepless nights, anxiety about what is next. It's broken us down and challenged people to pivot, create new revenue streams, or maybe even to close their doors. We are all seeing it happen. Beyond all of the bad, good has come out of this. A good friend, Hannah, reminded me, 'don't let fear be the thief of Joy'. This is so very true. YOU have been incredible. YOU are helping us keep our dream alive. YOU are helping to support families in our community. YOU have Brought JOY to thousands of people. YOU have shared THOUSANDS of cookies in our community. YOU are appreciated. We could never thank you enough for this past year. You continue to show up and help spread a little cheer by surprising friends or family you haven't been able to see with a sweet treat at their door, making memories with the kiddos decorating some of our DIY kits at home, or just taking some time for yourself and enjoying a lovingly made treat with your tea. THANK YOU. Our team is looking forward to getting back to work next week to continue to do our best for you - excited to see what new challenges our brought our way. We are determined to succeed and have BIG plans for the future of Emily Mae's! Thank you for being on this journey with us. Please, continue to support local whenever you can. Sweet News!! ALL PRE-ORDERS are READY for pick up!!! Please come on by tomorrow for curbside service between the hours of 10:30am-5pm. Just park out front and we'll approach the vehicle, ask the name on your order & then we'll bring it right out to you! Easy Peasy! If you have ordered Festive Platters and/or Treat Boxes, please try and come tomorrow if you are able, so we can give you instructions on how to preserve your treats!!... You're also welcome to pick up your orders Friday 10:30-6 or Saturday 10:30-4. Since ALL orders are now complete, we're going to focus on keeping the shoppe stocked up as much as we can for you!!! We're growing... and that means HIRING! (eek!) The busiest season for cookies is quickly approaching, and we want to do everything we can to make sure that we can service as many of you as possible and provide a wonderful and plentiful array of cookies & sweets for you to help celebrate the festive season! SO, our strong little team of three hard working moms needs a little bit of help. (and we are getting a little tired!)... We are looking to create and fill a few positions that would be for seasonal hire with the potential to stay on in the New Year! EXPERIENCED BAKER (part time) that is ready to get working right away! This job requires being able to work on your feet most of the day, lifting heavy bags of flour & working at a fast pace, able to work on Sundays to get us started for the week - a passion for baking and trying new recipes, experience and knowledge of baking macaron would be an asset to our team. ASSISTANT DECORATOR (part time) to help decorate a LOT of sugar cookies! Experience working with Royal Icing preferred as we are looking to have you hop right into things! Ready to work at a fast pace and have strong hands for all that piping. 'SWEETS REP' (part time) to welcome our guests with a friendly greeting and help them with their 'cookie & sweets shopping needs'. A cashier and retail sales position of sorts to work our shoppe during open hours - Friday's & Saturdays most weeks with the addition of one or two days leading up to Holidays!
