Today is #GivingTuesday, normally we would be solely asking for monetary donations, but we recognize the hardships that 2020 has brought for many of us. We hav...e experienced tremendous loses, triumphs, extreme changes, and the unknown. The ever approaching 2020 Holiday Season brings much uncertainty for us, and for the individuals and families that we support. Every little bit of caring can help us to provide a different level of comfort, support, and love to those in need. We are encouraging you to help us in any way that you can. Whether that be donating to our Christmas Campaign, helping us reach our $200,000 goal, or sponsoring a resident on our Kwae Kii Win Christmas Wish, helping someone's smile light up on Christmas Morning. With many requests from the community, we've also put out our 24 days of giving list, and what a fun way to give as a family, as group of friends or as place of work. If you have been affected this year, like many of the individuals we see, come help us out in our kitchen, we need more help than ever to ensure everyone has something warm to eat on a cold winter's day. Because it is Giving Tuesday, donations will be matched on our CanadaHelps page, so your donation could have a greater impact today than any other day this season. Wow!! What a great day! So wonderful to see so many of you, and to feel your support for Empty Bowls, Shelter House, and the Thunder Bay Food Bank. Thank you!! There will be more posts in the coming days with pictures from today as well as fundraising totals and (wait for it) plans for additional fundraisers. But for now we just want to post Heather Morrison, longtime supporter of Empty Bowls, expressing so beautifully what Empty Bowls means to her.

Half-way through! If you haven’t come to get your bowl yet, you still have time! We’re here until 4, and extra bowls will be available after 3pm. And don’t forget we are collecting non-perishable food items and also selling 50/50 tickets.

We're all set up and bowls are being delivered. We even had a walk through on the drive through! Thanks to everybody who has brought canned good and cash donations.

The bowls are being laid out in anticipation of the Empty Bowls drive-thru beginning in 30 minutes! This event has sold out! Thank you to everyone who has purchased their ticket, and allowed someone else to enjoy a hot meal when it’s needed most.

The Empty Bowls organizing team is looking for a secretary to join our ranks! Responsibilities include emailing meeting reminders and taking/typing up/sending m...eeting notes. Commitment is one 1.5 hour meeting every 6 weeks (Feb-June, summer off, back on in September/October). For more specifics send us a message and we can fill you in! See more

It’s finally herethe 20th annual Empty Bowls!! We are so excited and hope you are too. One of the things we always ask is for people to bring a non-perishabl...e food item to the event. We have provided a list of things that are most needed, in case you are wondering what to bring. CONGRATULATIONS KARINA! She had been browsing through the selection of quilted bowl cozies, as they were being sold at the Country Market, and decided to add a couple of 50/50 raffle tickets to her purchase. Later, she received a call that she was selected as the winner, but we hadn't completed our tally yet. It wasn't until after Jay presented her with her cheque that she asked, "So how much did I win?" Oops, maybe we forgot to mention that it was $3,745.00 "Wow" exclaimed Karina, "I thought I just won a little something. I never win anything, I think I'm in shock. Thank you." ...And Thank you Karina; and everyone who has been supporting the Empty Bowls fundraiser in so many ways. Together, we help fight hunger in Thunder Bay.

The countdown has begun! Only 4 more sleeps until the 20th Empty Bowls Caring Hearts! Potters have been busier than ever creating beautiful bowls, local restaurants have been fine tuning their recipes to give you their most delicious soups, and Given a Chance has been practicing hard to be their best, most entertaining selves. It’s going to be great, and on this World Day of Hunger it’s important to remember that this event is one small way for each of us to help ensure that everyone in our community has enough to eat. Today ( October 16) is world hunger day. This day we are extra mindful of the fact that there ate many people who go hungry day after day All efforts to eradicate hunger and poverty are welcome.
