Organizing This week has been full of planning organizational spaces for clients. Through the process of cataloguing the different storage needs, I have come up with my 3 favourite tips for an organized and beautiful space! 1. Mixed Storage... Having a mixture of open shelving and drawers creates ample storage. Shelving is best for bigger items that can’t quite fit in a small space, while drawers allow room where smaller items (such as batteries, pens, etc.) can be organized in containers that are easier to get at. Plus, the mixture of both adds more visual interest to a space rather than the same type of shelving used over and over! 2. Boxes My favourite way to store items! Especially larger things that don’t really have a home. I like to categorize the boxes with different types of stuff to make it easier to find and put away. Different colour boxes or labels are also a great way to differentiate where your items are! 3. Make it Pretty! Not all storage has to be hidden behind closed doors. Adding a bit of visual interest with mixed shelving, coloured boxes, or some decor can make any space functional without compromising the overall aesthetic of the space. Keeping all the shelving/drawers units the same colour creates a consistent look that feels cleaner and less messy. And that’s it! 3 simple steps to create a cleaner and more organized space. It’s Wednesday - we’re half way through the week! Feeling unmotivated? Here are my top 5 favourite tips to help you re-focus and get through the rest of week! 1. Lists - I love lists! Both for work and personally. They help me categorize my thoughts and see what I need to get accomplished. It’s also a great way to set goals for the week and keep you motivated! ... 2. Prioritize - as much as lists help us to see what needs to get done, it can be very overwhelming! By prioritizing what needs to get done, we can focus on what needs to be done first and then work down to the less important stuff! 3. Organize - having a clean space makes all the difference! A space free of clutter helps the mind to feel less cluttered too! I don’t know about you, but I sometimes use cleaning as a way to procrastinate So starting with an organized space is a must for me! 4. Take a break - it’s important to remember that taking a break is okay! It allows the brain to recharge and focus. Especially when it comes to creative work, I find it important - sometimes I just look at a project for too long! When I come back to it refreshed, I usually end up with a much better end result. 5. Coffee - last but not least! I’m actually not much of a coffee drinker, but on those days when it really feels like a grind, it is a must! Something about a warm beverage with a jolt of caffeine really gets the creative juices flowing! Whether you’re a creative or not, I hope these tips helped! How do you get through your week?
