Happy Friday, Friends! There is a good chance that many of you will recognize this friendly face! We asked our London and area Epilepsy Educator, Jayme Chami some fun questions so you could get to know her better! 1) What is the one thing you cannot resist? No shame to admit that I cannot resist sweets! It doesn't help that the ESWO office is surrounded by businesses that sell donuts and cupcakes! I am definitely the bad influence at the office. ... 2) How did you start working at ESWO? I first started working at ESWO as a student; helping to develop the YEP! program. Since then, I've had the privilege to work as the YEP! Program Facilitator, Client Services Manager, and now, Epilepsy Educator. 3) If you could learn to do anything, what would it be? I would love to speak Arabic fluently one day! My husband is Lebanese and his family speaks Arabic. I've learned a lot but still have a long way to go. 4) What's your favourite part about your job? You're going to make me choose!? I love so many things about my job, but I really love helping to raise epilepsy awareness. I truly believe that everyone should be educated about epilepsy and seizures. Everyone has a brain, so anyone could have a seizure! I love the understanding and compassion that people express when they learn more about epilepsy. I also love the difference that just a little education and support makes in people's lives. Sometimes, people are diagnosed with epilepsy for years and still have questions. Other times, people just want to know that they aren't alone in this journey. ESWO truly makes a difference in peoples' lives. Sorry, I know that was two things! Oops! 5) Before working at ESWO, what was the most interesting job you’ve ever had? The most interesting job I've had is working as a Disney princess, performing at birthday parties and events. Ariel, Cinderella, Belle.. you name it.. I've probably portrayed that princess.

Meet Ella. Ella is 8 years old and has a twin brother, Oliver. Ella’s classroom recently received a Thinking About Epilepsy presentation, to which Ella said: Mommy, I really liked the presentation, it made me feel better and safe knowing everyone knows what to do to keep me safe. Epilepsy is often associated with missed school days and academic underachievement in children, increased risk of learning and behaviour challenges, restricted social activity, stigma and anxiet...y. Our Public Education programs allow us to deliver classroom presentations to teach about epilepsy and seizure first aid in a way that dispels myths and lets students with epilepsy feel safe. We work with teachers to help children stay in school after their seizure. Our programming strengthens a student’s coping skills, decreases their isolation, and builds confidence to feel accepted for who they are. We are grateful that we can provide this for Ella. The goal of our upcoming Virtual Gala is to raise $35,000 to help support our Public Education Programs so we can continue to provide support for children like Ella. Please consider purchasing a ticket to our Virtual Gala, bidding on silent auction items and/or making a donation. We truly need your support. At TMMC, we understand that many Canadians live with epilepsy, including our team members, their families, and members of our community. Supporting Epilepsy Southwestern Ontario is one small way we can contribute to their goal of enhancing the lives of people affected by epilepsy. Thank you Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada Inc. for your continued support of our organization and our Annual Gala! This year, TMMC is a Hope Sponsor at our Virtual Gala. We truly appreciate their contribution and efforts in enhancing the lives of people affected by epilepsy. #gala4epilepsy

Happy Friday, Friends! I am sure that many of you will recognize this smiling face! We asked our Chatham-Kent and Sarnia-Lambton Epilepsy Educator, Sandra Pidduck some fun questions so you could get to know her better! What are 3 words to describe Epilepsy Southwestern Ontario? Caring, Supportive, Informative... What is on your wish list for the next 10 years with Epilepsy Southwestern Ontario? My wish for ESWO would be that there would be more stable funding so that we could concentrate on supporting people with epilepsy and also educating people about epilepsy. Best vacation you’ve been on? The best vacation was a trip to Scotland in 2012 with husband, daughter, and two friends. We travelled around Scotland with a private tour guide and saw my family’s castle and the Edinburgh Tattoo. People would be surprised if they knew: Played hockey for many years, played in University, asked to try out for the Women’s Hockey Federation League What do you like most about your job? I love all parts of my job, but I particularly love public speaking at schools, service groups.
