Family Service Ontario

In preventing #VAW, Family Service Ontario agencies have provided decades of public education to raise awareness of relationship safety, domestic abuse, and mental health. Our agencies are among the few service providers offering treatment to women, men, and children.

Family Service agencies are key stakeholders in combatting Violence Against Women (VAW). Agencies provide a continuum of evidence-based, family-centered, and culturally responsive #VAW services from prevention education and early intervention to treatment and crisis intervention.

With 125 storefronts in rural and urban areas, Family Service agencies have been providing accessible, evidence-based treatment to men for decades to help end the stigma of mental health and close the gap in services for men.

Mental health affects the entire family. Family Service agencies are hubs that offer a range of integrated services for men and their families. Agency partnerships create clear pathways to seamless, integrated services, so everyone gets the help they need faster.

Almost 2/3 of men who come to Family Service agencies can't afford to pay for mental health treatment. Agencies don’t turn anyone away and provide service on a sliding-scale or no-fee-when-warranted basis, diverting men from physician and emergency waiting rooms.
