Kaybass Diggs is known for his big tone, chops and flirtation with the boundaries of chordal work. So when specing his bass we knew it had to be both smooth and articulate it also had to be transparent for his signature tone to shine through without colouration. We opted to build a BN5 with a Northern Ash body, dense Mac Ebony fingerboard, and our boost only preamp & stacked single-coil pickups. His BN was strung with nickel fullcores and the bridge was shifted back 3mm... to improve string tension for the full-step drop tuning. Master Volume/Pickup Blend wiring was also a must for volume swells. All the colour is left to the Matte Neon Burst finish, complete with a Kaybass headstock decal. We first met K at NAMM in January and were utterly blown away by his playing it was this amalgam of velvet-like fluidity and a heavy weighted tone that absolutely sang. This neck-through was built with a Koa body, Ebony fingerboard, Bartolini reverse P pickups, and an original Badass bridge. Spot the signature curved out treble horn and curlicue at the base of the body that still live on in our basses today.
