IF YOU OWN A POLINI ENGINE, IMPORTANT! Polini has advised us that catastrophic shaft failure may occur in all Thor 250 engines shipped prior to June 15 of this year. We are not aware of any problems with our customer base, but we and Polini emphasize as strongly as possible that all affected engines should upgrade the reduction shaft from M12 to the new M14 size. Their bulletin applies to customers with applications which are 3-axis or prop diameters which are greater than 55... inches. This is new part 928.100.008 and is offered at $277 + shipping by us. It is our understanding that this includes a transmission and new propeller flange. The service bulletin reads: Polini Motori highly RECOMMENDS replacing the reduction with the new increased M14 version to the owners of Thor 250 and Thor 250DS purchased before 15.06.2020 Item 928.100.008 Polini Motori has designed and produced a new increased transmission and propeller flange. All the Thor 250 and Thor 250DS engines produced starting from 15.06.2020 will be equipped with the new transmission. The upgrade refers to the gear shaft diameter that switches from M12 to M14. This change is dedicated above all to applications on 3-axes or on machines with propeller with diameter bigger than 140cm because the reduction shaft is undergone to high levels of stress that may damage the reduction shaft, causing a big failure. If we receive enough orders, we will place an order in bulk after the annual August Polini factory shutdown and split the incoming freight between all customers. Dave
