I made it into my mid twenties without ever having a committed relationship lasting more than 6 months. There were times when I wondered if I just wasn't meant to date longterm- nothing wrong with that except deep down I wanted to feel understood, accepted, and appreciated. At the time, I didn't understand that and so I turned to fitness. Thinking maybe if I got shredded enough, lean enough, muscular enough, basically attractive enough I would find someone to love and they w...ould love me back. It's been a year now in the best relationship of my life, she has taught me so much. I definitely don't have it all figured out, but I'm still learning. My favourite thing about our relationship is that our happiness inspires others wherever we go. Happiness is contagious and I believe love is out there for anyone who wants it. Anyone. To me, there is nothing more powerful than inspiring someone else to aim high and stop at nothing till you get it - in my experience, that's what creates the most intense, all consuming, life changing moments of happiness. Here are a few things I learned: 1) "I wonder if this will work out?" changed to "I wonder how we will make this work out" in the most difficult circumstances (and we definitely have these!) 2) "Love isn't about finding someone who makes you happy, it's about finding someone worth making happy" - Terry Goodkind 3) No matter how tired you are, how miserable, sad, annoyed, it always feels worth it to put in the effort - and it definitely takes effort What does this have to do with health? Health is the lens through which we view and experience our life. It applies to absolutely everything. Getting my priorities straight made a way bigger impact than any fasting protocols, diets, calorie counting, supplements or workouts I've tried. Mindset is everything!
