#findingstillness through my #taoisttaichi practice used to mean slowing, quieting, stopping the incessant chatter in my mind, body and spirit. Now I catch a sensation of something new... soft delicate light which has me imagining I can experience a new way of being. ~Barb #fungloykok #taichi #meditation #trouverlharmonie #findingharmony #meditationenmouvement #movingmeditation Fung Loy Kok Institute of Taoism

#Taoism teaches us that there are opportunities in every situation, no matter how difficult. It also teaches us that we can deepen our understanding when we are able to apply what we have learned in new circumstances. Living with #agoraphobia and #socialanxiety as I do, the regular virtual meetings along with my daily #taoisttaichi practice have become an extremely vital part of managing my mental health and #stayingpositive and balanced. I like the virtual reunions on Saturday morning, the ones of 1000 participants from the Fung Loy Kok Institute of Taoism, during which we chant for the world. Kneeling in front of my computer, I share with everyone this moment of great unity and harmony. All I have to do is participate in these chants and I feel connected with everyone. The practice of #taoisttaichi, the sequence of all movements or a few foundation exercises, allows me to center myself, regain focus, come back to the present moment and have clearer ideas. Regular practice has changed me, not just physically, but also psychologically. My way of being has changed for the better and it’s not over. The evolution has been gradual. On the social level, I’m learning to speak in public. Formerly, I wanted to enter below the floor. Fortunately, ther...e are still a lot of transformations to come, as my whole body evolves. ~Christine N #taoisme #taoism #taichi #meditation #tranquillité #findingstillness #trouverlharmonie #findingharmony #meditationenmouvement #movingmeditation #fungloykok #meetinglife Fung Loy Kok Institute of Taoism

Losing brain function is not just about disease and decline, it’s about a person. Worldwide, at least 44 million people are living with some form of dementia. Alzheimer’s brings loss of memory, and other aspects of cognitive function that are profoundly life changing. Fortunately, research shows that being physically active can reduce the risk, or slow the progression of dementia, and the scientific evidence about the positive effects of a regular #taichi practice on cognitiv...e function is growing. Recent systematic reviews affirm its potential to improve short term cognitive abilities in the elderly at the onset of dementia. Taoist Tai Chi arts practitioners also provide anecdotal evidence supporting the improvements noted in the scientific literature. I am in my late 60s, and I’m happier and better balanced physically and emotionally than I was when I was young. Taoist Tai Chi arts increase my energy, confidence and mental clarity, and challenge my mind in a very positive way. ~ Theresa While I am very grateful for the improved physical health Taoist Tai Chi practice has offered, it is the mental peace, calm, equanimity that I now feel is so appreciated. The actual functionality of my life has improved immensely - mental clarity, cheerfulness, organizational abilities, increased mental memory/ problem solving, less anxiety to none. ~ Anonymous January is Alzheimer’s Awareness Month. @AlzheimerCanada #alzheimersawarenessmonth #dementia #livewithdementia #fungloykok #taoisttaichi #findingharmony #findingstillness #cultivatingbalance Fung Loy Kok Institute of Taoism

#taoism, and the Northern Dipper Sutra in particular, incorporates the idea of harmonizing with constant transformation and change. These rhythms of life and of our #taoisttsichi practice relate to the cycles of #nature. Everything is moving and changing and yet does not need to be chaotic. There is consistency, balance and stability in the universe within and without. #stillness within movement and movement within stillness is the eternal and unchanging nature of the universe. #findingharmony with movement and stillness, impermanence and change is a deep aspect of Taoist Tai Chi practice. #chantingfortheworld #lunarchanting #chanting #togetherapart #taichi #taoisttaichi #taoism #fungloykok #findingstillness #cultivatingbalance Fung Loy Kok Institute of Taoism

#Taoism teaches us that it is in the #nature of things that everything happens in its proper time. It is good to be sensitive to the rhythm of the moves and the times, and to harmonize with them, rather than worry in our #taoisttaichi practice or in our lives. #chantingfortheworld #lunarchanting #chanting #togetherapart #taichi #taoisttaichi #fungloykok #findingstillness #findingharmony #cultivatingbalance #chantlunaire #ensembleadistance #taichitaoiste #trouverlatranquilité #trouverharmonie Fung Loy Kok Institute of Taoism

The Northern Dipper (Big Dipper) points to the North Star (Polaris). In Taoism the North Star is at the centre of cycles of change in the sky, in the universe, and in people. It is still and the whole sky turns around it. In Taoism, and in the Northern Dipper Scripture in particular, the North Star represents what is eternal and unchanging in the universe. If you live in the northern hemisphere you can find the North Star by first finding the Big Dipper. Draw a line from th...e two outermost stars that form the bowl of the Dipper. Go in the direction away from the open part of the bowl and you will find a bright star. That is the North Star! The North Star appears still but governs all the cycles of change in the universe including people. #chantingfortheworld #lunarchanting #chanting #togetherapart #taichi #taoisttaichi #fungloykok #findingstillness #findingharmony #cultivatingbalance #chantlunaire #ensembleadistance #taichitaoiste #trouverlatranquilité #trouverharmonie #cultiverequilibre Fung Loy Kok Institute of Taoism

~ Ghislaine We cultivate peacefulness in ourselves as we do our vegetable garden. We sow seeds, we water. Fertilizing the soil, watering. After a while, we weed, we water again, and finally after all these efforts, we reap! My practice of #taoisttaichi and my journey through the Fung Loy Kok Institute of Taoism made me understand that tranquility can be learned, that it can be cultivated, that it is part of our training and that we must be disciplined to achieve it. And the great pleasure of the harvest is that it is permanent, it is possible to share it and everyone benefits from it. ~Ghislaine #taoisme #taoism #tranquillité #findingstillness #trouverlharmonie #findingharmony #meditationenmouvement #movingmeditation Fung Loy Kok Institute of Taoism
