Snowshoeing on the trail, sliding down the hill, and the view of under the frozen water through our windows, but mostly because the seasonal snow is an important part of the Earth's ecosystems. Did You Know melting snow provides needed moisture to many plants. Even dormant plants continue to lose moisture as water evaporates through their branches. Evergreens, which keep their foliage throughout the winter, are at even greater risk of injury from lack of moisture. Snow always looks so beautiful on the trees Do not shake limbs to try to remove snow or ice. When you find your trees are bending or drooping as a result of ice and snow accumulation, your first instinct is probably to shake the branches. This may cause breakage or damage. Plants are flexible, so knocking off the weight of accumulation may cause them to "snap" back, potentially damaging the circulatory system. ... Prevent snow and ice damage to trees. How, you ask? Proper pruning is one way. Particularly important is the removal of hazardous, dead or weak branches. Trees that tend to suffer the worst damage as a result of snow and ice are upright evergreens, like juniper and clump trees, like birch. And, when it comes to ice, age does not make a tree stronger; younger trees actually tend to survive better in ice storms.

This is an amazing alternate option! You can decorate a real tree and then after the holidays, plant it outside to create wildlife habitat !
