To increase capacity, the Beer Store undertook the building of a new distribution centre in Caledon, ON. The 407,000sqft LEED-certified facility will be capable of storing 2.8 million cases of beer at any time. Construction of the warehouse was entrusted to Maple Reinders Group, a firm known for quality, reliability, & on-time delivery. To ensure the quality of the foundation work, Maple Reinders turned to Form & Build Supply. F&B was able to provide DuPont SM 50mm rigid insu...lation for the entirety of the building foundation. Dupont rigid insulation is high-quality, extruded polystyrene foam insulation board that protects foundation walls from dampness & damage from freeze-thaw. Originally, the insulation was to be fastened using trowel-applied adhesive. To expedite this laborious process, F&B suggested the ITW Ramset Insulfast T4 System. The system consists of the automatic Insulfast tool & fasteners. With the ability to shoot up to 1,000 fastener pins per hour, the lightweight T4 tool enables workers to affix insulation 4x faster than traditional methods. The feedback from site was almost immediate & overwhelmingly positive. Mushrooms require specific environmental conditions which require attention be paid to the entire building envelope of the new build. East Elgin Concrete Forming performed all the foundation work on the project. The foundation walls were formed using Advance Concrete Forms, known for exceptional durabi...lity, ease-of-use, and creating smooth finished walls. For insulation,DuPont’s Styrofoam SM insulation with a 75mm thickness was used to achieve an R-value of 15 for the foundation walls. For an aesthetic above-grade finish,T. Leamington, ON has experienced a boom in greenhouse construction over last few years. Driven by produce growers expanding their capacity as well as a build-up of growing space to meet the demands of Canada's legal cannabis market. In that time, millions of square ft of concrete floor slabs have been poured, with millions more planned in the coming years. Known for quality flatwork, Neufeld Construction has worked on a # of greenhouse projects. Through the course of this wor...k, they were having trouble limiting dust dispersal when cutting expansion joints. The dust was extremely fine, settling all over the greenhouse & during the projects early stages power sources are often scarce making electric dust extractors impractical. Neufeld has a fleet of Husqvarna Soff-Cut machines acquired through Form & Build, so they once again turned to us to try to find a solution to the dust problem. Form & Build supplied Neufeld with the Husqvarna T400 Petrol SC Vacuum, compatible with the rest of Neufeld’s fleet & works exceptionally well to mitigate dust. Because it's gas-powered, it's able to be used before power is on site. By simultaneously extracting dust particles while cutting expansion joints, a major source of friction is reduced, extending the life of diamond blades by up to 10%.

The Region of Peel had plans to build a new Salt Dome to support their winter maintenance operations. Salt Domes are subjected to all kinds of heavy traffic & wear-and-tear. From heavy transport delivery trucks to front end loaders scraping the floor slab, these facilities need to withstand a lot. To combat these challenges, the original specification called for a traditional surface-applied hardener for the concrete floor slab and dome walls. The City was concerned whether t...his hardener would actually be able to provide the long-term durability needed for the life-cycle of the facility. To better achieve their needs, Form & Build recommended the Region of Peel substitute Hard-Cem for the originally specified hardener. Hard-Cem is an integral hardener that enhances the long-term durability and abrasion resistance of concrete better than typical surface-applied hardeners. It can be used with both air-entrained and non-air-entrained concrete. Because it’s integral and added to the concrete mix during batching, it eliminates the labour required to apply a hardener after the concrete has cured, saving both time and money.
