Over the last two days, a few of our members and their spouses took part in the Victory March, which is a march of 40km (20km a day x2 days) while carrying at least 25 pounds of gear. The Victory March has a long tradition (103 years) and highlights the symbolic relationship that unites Canada and the Netherlands. This year marks the 67th year that the Canadian Armed Forces have participated. We are proud of all of our past and current members who have been involved with the CAF and thank them for their service. Thanks to Pat, Abra, Steve, Adam, and Graeme for their involvement!

April 28th marks the National Day of Mourning. We would like to take a moment to remember all the firefighters and workers who were injured or lost their lives as part of their jobs. Let's honor them by continuing to work tirelessly every day to further improve safety in our workplace.

Day 6 Update: Last night was the biggest test of this games history. -49C with 40km/hr winds. This was a whole new element to battle. Even Health Canada warned ...the public that 5-10 minutes outside could cause severe frostbite. Good thing they didn’t have any recommendations on playing between the pipes for 10 hours outside!!!My eyes even froze open at one point. It’s a weird feeling when you can’t blink because of ice build up. We are battling frost bite, lace bite, blisters, sprains/strains and fatigue but not stopping. Just finished playing out for another 3 hours and back for the nightshift tonight!! Nothing will stop this group of individuals. Absolute warriors battling the weather but still doesn’t even come close as battling cancer. Every donation you give will now be doubled as an anonymous donor is matching all new donations up to $100,000!!! Let’s crush this!!! You help with double donations and I’ll keep double stacking these pads like Billy Ranford!! Please donate and share my page!!! https://worldslongestgame.ualberta.ca//w/s/andrew-buchanan #truehockey #PlayTrue #IAFF #biosteel #worldslongestgame #warriorhockey Spittin' Chiclets

Research shows that fire fighters are more likely to be diagnosed with certain types of cancer than the general public due to the toxins that we are exposed to. This is a trend that the IAFF and FCSN are working to reduce.

This is an incredibly irresponsible and detrimental decision for our community. We need our residents of the entire RMWB to make their voices heard and speak agains this!! Time means lives! AHS has already proven its inability to properly dispatch in our region.
