Prim has been an incredibly humbling and challenging project. We decided to make her training our priority for the month of December. A little background info: We found out this summer that before we purchased Prim she had been in a rescue situation, she was being kept in a gutted out travel trailer, stalled for a number of years.... Luckily a ranch offered to rescue her and add her to their large herd. Unfortunately Prim had never learnt how to properly socialize and be...came extremely defensive. When we bought her she had a nice start under saddle and was starting to understand ridden cues thanks to the previous owners at the ranch. Since we started our journey with Prim, she has offered a lot of negative behavior (we nicknamed her little goose) she would bite, rear, strike and explode with any training pressure. We had to resort to creative training methods, giving her outlets for her fear and lack of confidence. I am sooooo proud of how our training month has ended, you would hardly guess that she had such extensive trauma in her early years. See more
