RESPONSIBILITY At some point most people who recover realize that no one else can do it for them, that they have to take charge of their recoveries. People can, and often need, to be supported in their efforts to recover, but they can't be care taken or protected into recovery.Taking one's own risks, setting one's own goals and path, and learning one's own lessons are essential parts of recovery. The appeals of dependency and being taken care of can derail a recovery as can being too frightened or traumatized to take risks.

Our goal at Fresh Start Peer Support Society is to provide simple solutions at no cost; allowing individuals to receive the support they need working through our programs and helping families come together as a team. All while keeping wellness our top priority!

Thank you Diane for your hard work and long hours on the SMART Recovery course. As of today, SMART Recovery is now available in Cape Breton for the first time! Good morning everybody I would like to tell you a story about a young man that was born in Nova Scotia. At the age of 5 he started to develop trouble with his eyes that would need surgery. He also has a twin brother they used to help him as much as he could. A set of Twins shared a desk for two in a one room school grades 1, 2 and 3 . This man did not learn how to read spell or do math and had struggles through his life. His twin brother continue through life wanting to help.... They still talk on the phone almost everyday as much as they can. Struggles in life are always challenging. He became a construction worker and a single parents of three, a boy a girl and a boy the youngest at 8 month. Bringing 3 children up as a single parent. Is a task. Becoming an Iron worker that was alright for many years. The trade became compulsory then he had to right his red seal certificate that would allow him to continue his work. After 35 years being a Iron worker. It became the end his career. now over, not enough education to right his red seal. His children in there later teens being still supportive. The father started to experience depression opioid and low self esteem. Becoming addicted to hard drugs and he experienced loss of everything on the street soup lineup and homeless shelters for many years he struggled. Learning from a young age perseverance, being diligent for 35 years as a union Iron worker. Still his kids still communicate with him and are there for him they're doing good. Working hard through the grace of God bringing him through addictions and over dosing three times. Programs and peer support he became free of drug and now he works with people throughout the nation in peer support. He is also developing fresh start peer support society. Good morning everybody My heart is troubled today. Walking through the city of Edmonton Last night I have seen that the streets were quiet. A lot of stores and places were closed. The homeless and I seem to be the only people outside. I remember when I was addicted and on the streets and in bondage to Opiates and other drugs sleeping on the mats in the Hope Mission. I remember How hard it was To humble myself to behavior change. If I could do the work for the people I wou...ld take their place. I can only pray for the Lord to set the Oppressed free. Walking through the city the homeless were scattered. How can the NATIONS allow the ADDICTIVE PRODUCT to keep PARALYZING the NATIONS??? IT is not about suing for money it is about AWARENESS. PHARMACY and DOCTORS and MANUFACTURERS of ADDICTIVE PRODUCT should have RECOVERY. As soon as you ENTERTAIN one of THESE PRODUCT INSTANTLY the DOCTORS or MANUFACTURERS should be RESPONSIBLE for your RECOVERY. THE PEOPLE ARE ADDICTED TO THE PRODUCT. Addictive product should Not be handed out to our children or adults, without a recovery plan. The Manufacturer and doctors and pharmacies and providers should be responsible for their product. Not AA or NA Or other recovery options. Fresh Start peer support society and Others in our nation our glad to help ! The providers keep FEEDING and the CANADA keep ST...AGGERING. OPIOIDS, CANNABIS, ALCOHOL, if you take one addictive product like one of these . They should be providing a recovery map with the product ?
