This past winter we exhibited, REPLAY: CONSTRUCTING AND DECONSTRUCTING NOSTALGIA, a solo exhibition and performance by Kaitlyn Ramsden. Replay was a work-in-progress for her larger piece, BALLS. Kaitlyn is currently raising money for the final phase of this project. In her own words, I am raising the funds to finish the creation of BALLS, a site specific group choreography presented by the 2018 Festival Quartiers Danse. This will be my first group choreography and my firs...t presentation with the festival. BALLS is a collaborative dance piece choreographed by myself, interpreted by six female dancers and accompanied by an interactive musical score. BALLS researches the ways women and their bodies are represented in sports and competition. The work uses the movement already present in sports to unveil the perceptions of the female body in dialogue with teamwork, competition, strength, weakness, and support. For more information (a breakdown of costs, performers, performance dates, etc) and to donate please check out her Indiegogo page. Kaitlyn was kind enough to perform her work and install her exhibition at Friends & Neighbours and we would love to see her reach her fundraising goals and continue this project!
