Remember that picture of the eggs in the bottom of the cells? Well here is the next phase. By day 4, the eggs become larvae and the nurse bees have the job of keeping the larva fed. If you look really deep into the cells, you can actually see the outline of the larva in the royal jelly!

This little guy decided to visit our gardens and we were so excited that he or she took the time to pose for the swim suit edition of the 2021 Garden Path Homemade Soap nature calendar. Just kidding we don't have a calendar and the frog wasn't wearing a swimsuit. We don't claim to be "frogologists" but this tiny green guy is some type of tree frog or maybe a spring peeper. His little legs don't mean he can't hop - it could jump almost a mile. (fyi: a frog miles is 1/99th of a human mile!) We put it back in the garden to find a princess or prince to kiss. Anybody able to tell us what kind of frog it is?

We're so excited to continue working with our fabulous candle makers, Travis and Emilie! As we prepare our gardens for the winter season, we can't forget to say goodbye to all the critters. Here's a grasshopper basking in the sun.
