Gudbrandsson Tile & Stone 22.11.2020

Rossman Lake, Manitoba. Thank you to Darren, president of Sovereign Tile for the referral. 'Tis a GUD way to start the new year completing a 4x8 Schluter System shower in two tones of subway tile with 16x16 floor tile and in-floor heat, added three 12x12 niches and bench. Front entrance with matching 16x16 floor tile over Ditra XL. Premium grade A honed and chiseled Turkish Travertine fireplace from private stock leaves nothing to spare. Shower, laundry room and front entrance grouted with Mapei CQ Timberwolf, fireplace with sanded Navajo Brown. GUD to be home, new challenges await.

*post update* Manitoba, Canada. Thanks for the blade Mark, Contractors Direct. Let's test it out. Recently I got to test out the Pure Platinum 10" blade sent to me from a GUD buddy. The first tile I cut was a subway tile. I found it aggressive at first; however, with such a light tile it's hard to gage a feel for it, the Pt cut subway tile like a hot knife through butter. There was micro chipping to the tile, I cannot blame this on the blade as the tile was of a lesser qualit...y then other subway tiles I have previously installed. I had a itch to cut the heavier tile after blasting through the subway. Next I cut a 16x16 porcelain tile. This was a GUD test. No chipping of the cut tile, nothing that a three second hone couldn't fix. I felt it had the right grab when ripping through the tile, and the heaviness that I felt earlier was really GUD for taking a blades width off a tile. It was really great to work with and cut with precision, especially with a plunge cut for vents. Where I felt it shined was when cutting a beautiful premium grade A hone and chiseled Turkish Travertine for a wood stove and deck entrance area. It ripped through 24" of stone leaving a crisp edge that would meet up with hardwood floors. I finally want to mention I did torture the Pt with some cutting of Schluter profile metal edge. Although, I do not recommend this method, it defiantly cut the metal perfect, with very little filing to do. All of the above brings me to conclusion I will be leaving the Pure Platinum on the wet saw for a while. Now to test out the endurance. Thanks again Mark. See more
