Our last paving job of 2020 was a small step at a garage backdoor that was overdue for many years. We used Mini-Creta wallstone and Villagio pavers from Techo-Bloc. For the step caps, we used a discontinued Enviro 300 Capping Module from Permacon. For the top step insert, we custom cut Permacon's Mega-Arbel pavers to make a perfect layout and design. We took care of a eavestrough downspout extension that was a tripping hazard and a winter ice zone. We connected it to a 45 lin...ear Ft sloping drainpipe exiting into a garden bed drainage pit. A great driveway job we completed in July using an open graded subbase and bedding layer, a TriAx DriveGrid system and polymer modified EdgeCrete paver restraint. This is our 1st driveway using Techo-Bloc paver products. We used Eva paver in Champlain Grey color with a Villagio paver border in Onyx Black color. For the inlay, we used Antika paver in a mixture of Chestnut Brown & Sandlewood color. So normally this weekend, every year, with much anticipation, I look forward to our local Ottawa region Home & Garden Show with the always amazing Living Landscapes hall at the EY Centre! The timing of this event is great as a lot of homeowners here in this region are looking ahead to attack projects like backyard landscaping and renovations (+ we are tired of 4 months of winter!). When all the crowd gathering events cancellations started coming in, I had a sinking feeling... that this show would not go on also. This is a magical shady "cottage" like backyard were we installed a filtration system to the existing large 20-year old pond. This entire backyard is full of tall trees and a lifetime collection of rare ornamental steel garden decor. The whole yard is lit up with magical nightlights. We installed a 23-inch wide waterfall diffuser into the existing limestone waterfall wall and a large pond skimmer at the other end with a powerful 7000 GPH pump. A total landscape makeover we did in 2018. This small 17 by 20 Ft Ottawa townhome backyard was hard to access as it was situated behind a row of old Ottawa homes. We build a formal scupper spillway with a bubbling boulder in front of it. With the 9 LED nightlights, this place looks amazing in the evening from the 1st and 2nd storey! A Fountainscape we added several years ago in this fairly small backyard full of tall perimeter privacy evergreens. We put 3 custom drilled wall limestone boulders on a 130 Gal. modular water storage basin. In the center, theres a LED light shining up against the fountain rocks in the evening. We added a bowl shaped splash rock to the side for birds, dragonflies and bees to enjoy. This was a visit I made this past summer to my dear pond builder friend, Gerard Touhey in Easton, PA. His small corner street yard around his house is completely turned into a wide variety of different water features. It includes a large main pond stocked full of beautiful and rare Japanese Koi. The backyard is completely screened off from the surrounding streets. This whole backyard can be viewed from inside the house via multiple large patio doors. Some of the water feature...s are constantly updated as hes showcasing new water garden products coming into our market. (or he just came up with a new idea!) The evening view with all the lights and waterfall sounds from the balcony was mesmerizing and magical! A new gorgeous addition was added to this house and now we transform this neglected backyard into a retreat!
