RF GOLDWYN HAILEY - The passing of This Legend will forever be a sadness in our hearts. Hailey was very special to us at Budjon as there has never been another... cow in this day and age that has done what she has in the show ring. Everyone knows the banners, the purple ribbons, the garland of roses she has brought home to Gen Com. BUT Her true character was each and every time this cow walked in the ring.....She demanded your attention and had show ring presence like no other! Working with her during her winning streak....and now at the end of her career will be an honor and a privilege we have never taken for granted. Thank you to Mario, Lison and their entire family for trusting us with her. Thank you to our crew at the farm the past few months and our crew during her glory days. All HAIL The Queen! See more

Maxim Comtois Looking back today, I would say it was the three visit from Holstein Canada needed to class her EX-97. 3 visits in 4 days. We bagged her for comfortable hours to reduce her stress. Before the last visit, we milked her at night so she would be 12:00 as classifiers would come and let her free in the pasture for the night. So the morning after, I put the halter on her and went to the to washing parlour. SURPRISE! Classifiers were an hour an a half early to see how... she was doing... The funny part is that she was still dirty so I didnt want to classifiers to judge her still dirty from the pasture. Bruno Jubinville asked me to leave so they could debate between classifiers. The final decision to classify her 97 was actually taken in the washing parlour at Gen-Coms and the cow was still dirty from pasture as the classifiers were taking pictures of a dirty cow... Then having to tell my dad I couldnt wash her before the examination was hilarious. It actually wasnt a bad thing to show her in her true clothes as she shown in natural, at 12:00 by the end decision. Thanks to my dad Mario and Christian to let me take care such great animals at my young age.

Saying goodbye to an Expo legend. We are saddened to share that 2012 Supreme Champion and 2014 Reserve Supreme Champion RF Goldwyn Hailey has passed away at the age of 12. Hailey was exhibited by Gen-Com Holstein Ltee and was Goldwyns youngest daughter to ever score EX-97.

Maxim Comtois It all started in July 2010 when my dad was excited to invite me to go to The Excellence of Cowtown Intl Sale in Vermont where we bought two amazing animals. Selling as lot Nbr 1 was Idee Goldwyn Lynley. A cow in her wedding dress as Mario Comtois likes to call them and she made incredible achievements with us. Then Selling as lot number 6 was this beautiful 4 years old getting attention in the barn named Hailey. Udder, Legs, and rump caught my dads attention ...as we were still on shock from buying the great Lynley. Then telling me as a secret that we are actually buying her (Hailey) until his max was a turning point in Gen-Coms success. We were the last bidder. Asking my dad when they would reach home and I couldnt wait to add those elite animals on our string for the next show season were intense feelings. Without thinking that the future could be brighter. As shows went by, Hailey kept getting better the same year and with a new calf, she was named Res. Grand Champion at the RAWF in 2011 behind the million dollar Gold Missy. But no one can argue nowadays that it was just a lucky day for the notorious Hailey as it was only the beginning of her coronation strike. She claimed many titles as mentioned on the video below. To my friends who are reading this and have no link to agriculture, she is the cow I was so proud of. Amazing stories of trips and success mostly rotates around her, as she reached a level of recognition that few cows have reached over many decades. She became a true member of the family by living and working with her for 8 years, being the barns success. The purpose of my text is not to increase Haileys fame but to explain how she was the main celebrity at Gen-Coms being responsible for the farms success over the years. Thank you to everyone encouraging her, working with her and respecting her as she dominated the show ring worldwide for such time and still recognize over the world. Thank you to every breeder who is now intertwined to her legacy. We wish the best of success to all of you. We miss you <3

Todays #BovineBeautyChallenge #6 is none other than RF GOLWYN HAILEY. While I never owned part of Hailey she certainly is one of my favorite cows of all time ...and you could say she helped put us on The Map. Back in 2012 all eyes were on the Great HARVUE ROY FROSTY EX-97-2E-USA coming into the Expo. Everyone was expecting her to continue her reign as the greatest show cow in North America. Well everyone but me that was. I felt that things were going to change, and even had the audacity to predict it before the show (http://www.thebullvine.com//whos-next-world-dairy-expo-ho/). This lead to a fair bit of reaction, and even a little dust up in the barns at expo before the show. Thankfully Hailey and the team at Gen-Com did not let me down, and Hailey delivered in spades. For that reason, Hailey will always have a special place in my heart. I would like to nominate Dann Brady for the BBC challenge. Dan lives and breaths this cattle breeding industry and studies pedigrees more than most people read the newspaper.
