Gibson's Legacy 13.11.2020

Nova has been adopted and is settling into her new forever home! Good dog Nova!

Gibson's Legacy 10.11.2020

I wanted to wait and make sure she wasn't fooling me, but Nova has been all better for a week now and is eating like a horse and back to being a spitfire! It turns out it was a wad of string, that wasn't picked up on the Xrays, causing her so much trouble. She managed to pass the string and started feeling better almost immediately after. That means that Nova is back up for adoption, looking for her forever family!... She is INCREDIBLY smart, is really good with male dogs, her people and cats. Nova does not like female dogs, or rude dogs trying to mount her. She is high energy and high drive, so somebody active and who wants to give her activities or a job to do would be best. Nova was fearful on her intake, but is becoming a very confident dog quickly and with proper introductions she does well meeting new people. Interested in meeting Nova? Lola - Female American Bully 2yrs You've been waiting, and here she is. Available for adoption! Lola is a very sweet mannered 80lbs girl.... She was surrendered due to her dog selectivity, as well as her intense separation anxiety. She was suspected to be pregnant upon her arrival, but we have determined this girl is just thiccc! Lola has been doing fantastic in her foster home. She has struggled with her separation anxiety and has been a bit destructive as a result. She has been getting used to her X Pen, and her foster says about a month after having Lola she really seems to have settled and is less anxious. Lola has started a fitness routine and is often out for walks, trying to shed some of her extra weight. Her forever family will need to continue to work on her weight, as well as her separation anxiety. She is great on leash and has no problem passing by other people or dogs and paying them little attention. Lola will do best in a home as the only dog ; however an experienced owner with a polite dog may be able to win Lola over as she isnt reactive at all toward other dogs and stays calm cool and collected, however if the other dog and her don't hit it off she can pose the potential for a fight. She has been around cats and showed little interest! Lola needs to be spayed. This will be the cost of Lolas adoption. Due to a more expensive fall with vet bills so far, we are hoping that her adopters will be happy to cover the cost of her spay, and we will waive any adoption fee. If you would like to meet Miss Lola and see if she is the right fit for you, fill out an adoption application at the link provided below! https://forms.gle/975dCJMM4rdXpNRG6

NOVA UPDATE: Hey everyone, first of all I want to say thank you to everyone who donated toward Novas vet expenses second, I would like to apologise for typically posting so late at night but I am constantly working with the dogs please accept my apology and this update on Nova girl. Nova was back into the vet today. First, bloodwork was taken. Then, (ALOT OF!) Barium paste was given orally. After than we hopped up on the xray table for more of those super cool pictures... and then we had to take a break for a couple of hours to let the Barium Paste move from her stomach into her intestine. Nova and I decided to go for a long drive to the beach and back, and I had a Tim's coffee that didn't last nearly long enough. Then back again, into the vet and up onto the xray table for, yes Nova im serious, more special diva pictures. The Xrays with the help of the Barium Paste showed that Nova absolutely doesn't have a foreign body object causing her problems. The blood test results returned, and everything was normal except for one thing. Her white blood cell count was very high. This, the doctor let us know, could be indicative of an underlying infection. Maybe a UTI that wasn't treated, maybe an infection from a previous dog scuffle and bite.. but still, we are still relatively in the unknown. We have been sent home with Antibiotics (Clavaspetin) to clear up any possible underlying infection. Nova was in HIGH spirits at the vet, and has had a great day. Now that she is home, she has played lightly and tried to eat a little bit of the new food she was sent home with. Im crossing my fingers the antibiotics are what she needs and I will keep you all updated!

Nova is a 14month old American Pitbull Terrier who came to Dan at Gibson's Legacy after her previous family couldn't give her the training she needed to succeed. Nova was very fearful upon her intake and was growling and snapping at strangers. She was terrified by environmental changes and was a sad sight in her muzzle with her tail tucked under her on her first day here. Since arriving, Nova has FLOURISHED. She has built so much confidence in herself and is steadily trustin...g new humans that she interacts with. Just as things are looking up for Nova, and potential adopters have been lined up to meet her things took a turn for the worse. Nova started puking and stopped eating Sept 29th. She has since been to the vet for multiple xrays, injections to make her stop vommiting and a course of drugs to clear up any parasite or infection that may be going on - however she has only worsened. Nova is set to go back into the vet for blood work and further tests tommorow morning. Currently her vet costs have been about $500 - Her tests tomorrow will cost $250 before any treatment or prescriptions and exploration surgery for example will cost $1000. Novas vet bills are being fronted by me, but I am currently tapped until my next paycheck on the 15th (I have other dogs in my rescue and others asking to be surrendered) - if anyone is willing to help, I will be forever grateful PayPal.me/gibsonslegacy E transfers to [email protected]

Update : $135 Raised! Thank you!! It was an expensive day today, but all is well and everyone is healthy! Poor miss Nova wasn't feeling good last night and this morning. She vomited four times since last evening, unable to keep her food down. Today around noon she was looking quite sick and I decided no more time needed to be wasted - off to the vet! ... Miss Nova did fairly well at the vet! She didn't really like Dr. Sweet at first but reluctantly let him take her temperature, check her heart rate and feel her belly to see of there was any sign of a foreign body. Dr. Sweet was very gentle and soft spoken with Nova, showing her the stethoscope and reassuring her he wasnt there to do her any harm. Next we were off into the Xray room, where Nova was very unimpressed to be laid on her side and on her back for some special pictures, but she did fantastic. The xrays didn't show anything abnormal, and the little drama queen was given a shot of Cerenia to keep her from puking any more, some take-home anti nausea medicine as well as a 3-month dose of Bravecto to clear up any leftover demodex mites that may be present (she did have a few splotches that could possibly be demodex, so let's get that handled!) All in all, Nova is feeling much better. I'm still not certain as to what caused her upset tummy, but hate to see any of the dogs unwell. I'm very glad she is feeling much better On the way home, we stopped in at Global Pet Foods and Pet Valu to find some discounted dog food and came out with these bags of food and THREE Goughnuts balls that were 75% off! Woooohoo! I know its a hard time to ask for donations due to covid making everyone's life more difficult, but even a couple of dollars donated toward these costs, instead of your Tim's tomorrow at lunch, WILL make a huge difference. It takes a village and every penny counts. Please consider donating @ PayPal.me/Gibsonslegacy E-transfers can be sent to [email protected]
