January 12, 2020 We are saddened to hear the passing of an off-reserve tribal member from COVID-19. This is a heartbreaking reminder of the toll this virus takes. We send our thoughts and prayers to the family and loved ones of this tribal member. We are announcing no new cases today and an additional 6 recoveries.... Current Case Totals Active Cases: 4 Recovered Cases: 27 Total Cases: 31 We want to encourage community members to continue to follow public health measures and community directives. You all have done an amazing job so far. VACCINES The nursing team in partnership with the pandemic response committee is developing a plan for the vaccination clinic. It is important to note that our first shipment of the vaccine will be a very limited supply with more shipments to follow as they become available. Our community is only days away from administering the first several doses of the vaccine. We will be posting more details of the plan this week along with the eligibility criteria of who can receive the vaccine from the first shipment. GWC Health Staff will be directed to the Vaccination Super Site in Winnipeg for their vaccinations.

January 9, 2021 Good Evening. We apologize for the late post. We are announcing no new cases from the period of January 6 to today, January 9. We have had 4 recoveries during this same period.... Our total active cases is 13; Our total recovered cases is 18; Our total cases remains at 31; We want to thank the community for following public health measures and community directives. However, we must not let up yet. Please continue to follow all public health measures and directives, and limit your contacts outside of your household. From our community's data, many cases have developed symptoms between Day 10 to Day 14 from exposure. This is why we require everyone who has been exposed to the virus to complete at least 14 days of isolation (even if they have received a negative test result). Also remember to wear masks when you leave your home. This has shown to be an effective way of protecting yourself.

Firstly we would like to thank the community for your great efforts in keeping this pandemic at bay so far. Great work everyone but we can’t become lax now. All of our combined efforts along with our prayers to Creator has kept us safe so far. Let’s not grow weary. Therefore in our efforts here are some new directives following the Provincial guidelines. As the province has moved into Code Red, to ensure the safety of the community and staff at the Wellness Center we will be... moving to virtual and or telephone appointments with our providers. This means all appointments with the Nurse Practitioner, Nursing Team, Dr. Gupta and Dr. Thompson will occur via virtual or phone. If you do not have a phone please feel free to contact our office via Facebook messenger. Furthermore we will be delivering medical supplies are needed (ex: gauze, polysporin, etc) please call or message the Wellness Center and we will have this delivered to you. The nursing team is working to create a service delivery plan for care such as lab work, dressing changes, injections, flu shots etc. If you require an appointment for these types of services please contact our office and you will be put in touch with a nurse to book an appointment. We will continue to test/assess community members for COVID-19 testing. If you have symptoms, have been in close contact with someone who has COVID-19 or are unsure if you should be tested please call our office. We have safely created and sealed Orange area in the MPR to offer COVID-19 testing for our community members. If you are a Home Care client the Home care team will be in touch to update your care plan to meet your needs. Mental Health services continue to be available via video, text or phone. Call the Mental Health Team to make an appointment along with method of communication. These revised directives are in effect for the next 4 weeks and will be reviewed after that time. We are currently compiling an update for COMMUNITY COVID-19 RESPONSE & SUPPORTS which will be delivered to your house soon. We appreciate your patience and understanding during this challenging time as we try to continue to support our community in the safest way possible. Miigwetch Thanks so much, Ginew Wellness Center Team

Good evening everyone! Today we have 0 new cases, 2 recoveries and 17 active cases. The nursing team would like to send a friendly reminder that even though you may receive a negative result your isolation period may not be over and that it is very important to fully complete your isolation period. If at anytime you are unsure when or how long your isolation period is please call our nursing team and they can discuss this with you.... We understand 10-14 days is a long time to isolate and perhaps receiving those daily check in calls can feel unimportant or bothersome but please know we want to ensure everyone out there is taking care of themselves and their loved ones. Everyone have a great night and always remember to be kind to one another.
