Gingersnap Photography

This weekend I drove to Sylvan Lake to meet with Amanda Marie Neufeld and her family. I arrived early and was a little disappointed by the location we had picked, feeling that it did not give many options for beautiful pictures. However as soon as the family arrived my mindset changed. I instantly realized that the location did not matter. It was the family that mattered. Amanda's daughter who has Cerebral Palsy was definitely out of her element just like many kids are durin...g family pictures. Her parents and grand parents were ready to step up to the plate and they took the challenge head on. For most of the session I just watched as they interacted with her, their love for her was intoxicating. They spent a lot of our time together singing with her. I could tell that they had spent hours and hours singing with her in her short little life. After the session my heart was full and I could not stop smiling. God placed that beautiful little girl in the perfect family, that I'm sure is probably far from perfect, but he knew what he was doing. My pictures did not do the family justice, and frankly I got more out of their session than they will. I am just honored to get to meet people that inspire me to love more fully in my life.

This is what my behind the scenes looks like most days.. my one year old climbing over my photo shoot props and set up. The kids are never far from what I’m working on! But that is how I like it. They are the reason I want to be a family photographer. Every time I take a picture of my kids it makes me proud to be their mom. But it also reminds me of all the Uncaptured moments, not just of my kids but of everyone’s! I wish every mom could receive a beautiful picture of a simp...le moment in what felt like the most exhausting day. A simple moment to remind them of how beautiful their life is. If life was different I would love to gift everyone pictures of there family right now in all it’s imperfect glory!
