Wear a hat on Wednesday! May 5th is Hat's On for Mental Health! Albertans are invited to wear a hat to raise awareness of the importance of good mental health.

Glenmary school, in conjunction with schools across Alberta and Canada will be celebrating Catholic Education Week from May 10-14, 2021. The theme for this year's Catholic Education Week is Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. (Isaiah 40:31) World Catholic Education Day is being celebrated on May 13th. Everyone is encouraged to wear blue in support of Catholic education on World Catholic Education Day on Thursday, May 13 and post a photo on social media using #blueforcatholiced and #ibelieveincatholiced.

Dear Parents and Guardians, As many of you are already aware, Premier Jason Kenney announced yesterday that K-12 students will return to school in person on Monday January 11th. While we are looking forward to welcoming students back to school, we want to remind our school communities to remain committed to following public health guidelines from Alberta Health Services: - We remind families to monitor for any signs or symptoms of COVID-19 using the Alberta Health Screening Q...uestionnaire. If you or a member of your family has any of the symptoms of illness listed, please fill out the online Alberta Health Services COVID-19 self-assessment or call Health Link at 811. - If your child is sick, they must stay home. We encourage parents to review the Top 5 Symptoms Flowchart and Secondary Symptoms Flowchart provided by Alberta Health Services that will provide guidance about what to do when your child has symptoms or is a close contact to a positive case. If your child is isolating at home, their teacher will provide assignments that can be completed at home. - If your child is a close contact of a positive case, they cannot go to school for 14 days after their last close contact with the positive case. We recommend reviewing the guidance in the Close Contact Flowchart, having your child tested and following all isolation requirements from Alberta Health Services. Students who are isolating will receive assignments from their teacher that can be completed at home. - Lastly, a friendly reminder to please ensure your child is dressed appropriately for winter conditions. As Friday is the last day for in-class learning until the new year, all students are being asked to take home any items from their classes or lockers that they require to assist in their online learning. If your student requires a device to facilitate their at-home learning please check your email to fill out the Google form requesting one. If you require one for your child, this form must be filled out and a parent/guardian will be required to collect the device as a technology contract will need to be signed.

ATTENTION PARENTS AND GUARDIANS! To the Parents and Guardians of Glenmary School, Further to our letters to parents and guardians sent Sunday, November 1st and Monday, November 2nd, we are making another change to our education delivery model. In response to 4 additional confirmed cases, effective Friday, November 6th, all classes will transition to online learning, and in person classes will resume on Monday, November 16th. We previously announced that only senior high stude...nts were transitioning to online learning, and this change will transition the whole school online temporarily. IMPORTANT: Due to the late hour of this announcement, contacting all close contacts is not possible. We are asking all junior high students to self-isolate until 12:00 p.m. tomorrow Friday, November 6th. Administration will be calling the families of all students who are close contacts of a positive case. If you do not receive a phone call by 12:00 p.m., then your child is not required to isolate. We feel that transitioning our school to online learning is the best path forward to ensure education can continue for all students. Additionally, as students and staff continue to receive COVID19 test results, we anticipate the possibility of additional positive tests being reported. This temporary transition will allow staff and students to complete their required isolation at home, and would allow students to continue their learning online with their regular teachers. Furthermore, if additional positive cases are discovered, there will be no further interruptions to the delivery of education. We encourage all parents and guardians of students who test positive to report their test results to our school as soon as possible by emailing [email protected]. That email address is monitored on a regular basis, including evenings and weekends, and all emails will remain confidential. All junior high students will be contacted by their teacher to begin at-home learning. The delivery methods for at-home learning will be at the discretion of each individual teacher. Additionally, Chromebooks are available for at-home learners upon request. To submit your request, please fill out this Google Form. To obtain your child’s belongings, please call the school. Staff members will be at the school to ensure families can pick up their belongings and/or Chromebooks. We require a minimum of one hour of notice before their items can be picked up. Last night the Glenmary Saints took to the volleyball court for the first time this year. The Senior High Boys team hosted Ecole Heritage and won 23-25, 22-25, 25-12, 25-18, and 17-15. The Senior High Girls Volleyball Team traveled to Peace high and won 25-21, 25-23, 25-10, 25-14, and 25-21. Way to go Saints!

Looking for some homework help or a space to do some homework? Tutorials are running Monday to Thursday, from 3:30 to 4:30. Monday and Wednesday will focus on Math and Science and Tuesday and Thursday will focus on Language Arts and French Language Arts. All grades are welcome!

Glenmary School has been closely following the Government of Alberta's guidelines as we reintroduce extracurricular sports teams to our school. We have received many questions from parents about how many extracurricular cohorts their child can be part of. As per Glenmary School guidelines, students can be part of one community sport/group cohort and one school sport cohort at the same time.
