What a great gift from one happy client. Mmmmmmm good!

Go Kayak 02.11.2020

Trial Island was the perfect set up this morning for a currents and rough water paddling workshop. It was a bit cold but we quickly warmed up when we hit the action.

That is app is very useful for paddling Juan de Fuca Strait / Strait of Georgia regions. I do have the book, this is an addition to my collection of resources. Notes: Don't rely on only one source of information. Do your homework, ask questions, seek local knowledge and always be prepared for the unexpected. https://tinyoctopus.net/CurrentAtlas/

Thanks to Anne Graves for passing on this information. Canadian Tide and Current Tables printing to be discontinued. http://charts.gc.ca/publications/tables-eng.html

During this COVID time, Go Kayak is not wanting to mix people from different bubbles or social circles by advertising courses open to the public. If you want to improve your paddling skills, contact us and we can discuss how to make it happen! This approach has been appreciated by our customers since we have reopened in July and we will continue helping you to reach your goals and maximizing both your fun and safety on the water! A beautiful morning, crossing Baynes Channel to the "slough" for a current course. Everything was perfect, the crossing, the wind, the height of the tide and the current speed.

Just completed a two weekends sea kayak training (Basic Kayak and Level 1) with a wonderful group of girls (UVIC Girls off the Grid Member's Group) motivated, keen and full of energy. It was great to teach the next generation of sea kayakers.

It's been a while since we gave an update on "What's Going On" at Go Kayak during COVID season. We are still teaching, only upon request and to a limited amount of people. We taught Paddle Canada Basic, Lv1 and Lv2 courses as well as many one-on-one private courses such as currents, re-entries, paddling strokes, rolling, etc. With wonderful friends, we took some time off and paddled from San Josef Bay to Cape Scott, it was great to get out on the West Coast. We also MTB at ...Hartland, Thetis Lake, Mount Work and Partridge Hills as well as ran/hike half of the Juan de Fuca Trail...just because! We are still playing in the outdoor and hoping that your are doing it too! We wish you well during this difficult time, keep on paddling, have fun and stay safe! Yves and Patti

The last 2 weekends were perfect for a Paddle Canada Sea Kayak Lv2 Skills Course. It was a one-on-one course over 2 weekends with a strong, confident and keen student. We had very good currents, ebb and flood, for both weekends. https://photos.app.goo.gl/H3mF6jtzZnn8XnRX8

Last weekend at Trial Island on a strong flood was the perfect playground for a Paddle Canada Lv2 course.

BC Parks reopening schedule...

Go Kayak 27.03.2020

April 22, 2020 - This is an update on Go Kayak courses and Paddle Canada certified courses. ALL GO KAYAK COURSES ARE CANCELLED UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. Go Kayak is not, at this time,... . running courses . taking registrations . putting you on a waiting list . trying to reschedule you. We are taking the COVID-19 situation seriously. For your and our own safety, we are waiting for an update from the Province on when to resume courses. For more information, check our website (http://www.gokayak.ca) or our Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/gokayakca). Paddle Canada is suspending all programming including certification courses, clinics and classes until May 31, 2020. For more information, visit Paddle Canada website at (https://www.paddlecanada.com). On a personal note, Patti and I have decided to cancel our summer paddling trip from Prince Rupert to Port Hardy for the following reasons; . It is not a good time to go on a major paddling adventure. . It is not a good time to visit remote communities. . It is not a good time to possibly deploy emergency resources in case of a accident. They have enough on their plate! Hopefully, we will be able to do it next summer or as soon as this COVID-19 situation gets better. As for now, remember to . Wash your hands . Keep your distance . Stay home . Avoid unnecessary travel . Play safe Please feel free to contact Go Kayak if you need any further information. Happy Paddling! Because the COVID 19 situation is now accelerating very rapidly, for the safety of all participants, I had to make the hard decision of cancelling the Paddle Canada Lv2 course this weekend. I believe this is the best course of action to keep everybody and our community safe. Keep on paddling and keep your distance, one paddle away :-) Yves Aquin... www.gokayak.ca See more
