"Hope is much harder to come by. The women did not go to the tomb looking for hope. They were searching for a place to grieve. They wanted to be left alone in despair. The terrifying prospect of Easter is that God called these women to return to the same world that crucified Jesus with a very dangerous gift: hope in the power of God, the unending reservoir of forgiveness and an abundance of love. It would make them seem like fools. Who could believe such a thing? Christians, ...at their best, are the fools who dare believe in God’s power to call dead things to life. That is the testimony of the Black church. It is not that we have good music (we do) or excellent preaching (we do). The testimony of the Black church is that in times of deep crisis we somehow become more than our collective ability. We become a source of hope that did not originate in ourselves." Happy Easter! https://www.nytimes.com///opinion/easter-celebration.html

This is a quick reminder that our Theological Student, Brad Lindseth, will be running a Lenten Bible Study on Wednesdays at 7:00pm during Lent. The season of Lent is an important time for the Church. Not only do we prepare ourselves to celebrate Christ's resurrection at Easter, but it is also a time when new Christians prepare themselves for Baptism, or experienced Christians can prepare to re-affirm their Baptismal Vows. To help us prepare for Easter, Brad will be running a... Lenten Bible Study. All you will need for the Study is a Bible of your choice, however, having a Book of Alternative Services https://www.anglican.ca/wp-content/uploads/BAS.pdf could also be handy. The first session will on Wednesday, 24 February at 7:00 PM. Please email Brad Lindseth at [email protected] to sign up, or if you have additional questions about the study.

We often treat the story of Noah as a story for children. But God's remembrance of Noah, and God's promise to remember us, is for everyone. Come and see. Sunday at 10:30am Mountain. goodshepanglican.org Image: Bruce David, discovered via Scott Sharman

Tomorrow, we celebrate the Reign of Christ - which doesn't look much like other kings and queens we might see here on earth. Jesus tells us to look among "the least of these" to find him. Catholic sculptor Timothy Schmalz first created this work, entitled Homeless Jesus, in 2013, when it was installed outside Regis College in Toronto. Since that time, many copies have been set up around the world. These copies have been blessed by the Pope, and had the police called on them. Join us tomorrow at 10:30am MST as we worship the King who comes to us as one of the "least of these." All are welcome. Zoom here: https://zoom.us/j/203090116
