Happy Hanukkah! From Wikipedia: Hanukkah is a Jewish festival commemorating the rededication of the Second Temple in Jerusalem at the time of the Maccabean Revolt against the Seleucid Empire. It is also known as the Festival of Lights Hanukkah is observed for eight nights and days, starting on the 25th day of Kislev according to the Hebrew calendar, which may occur at any time from late November to late December in the Gregorian calendar. The festival is observed by lighting the candles of a candelabrum with nine branches, called a menorah (or hanukkiah).

Since mid-March, I have been unable to go into Cowansville Prison. How can people who are incarcerated and locked down be supported during this time when Chaplains across Canada are not accessible to inmates? - Rev. Tim Smart

June 1, 2020 The Washington [D.C.] Examiner Madison Dibble reporting President Trump walked to St. John’s Episcopal Church following his address to the nation which was delivered in front of a massive crowd of protestors. St. John’s Episcopal Church was one of several churches and historical monuments damaged by rioters on Sunday night. Just before his speech, a large crowd of protesters was cleared by authorities using several canisters of pepper-spray. Law enforcement... forced everyone out of the area near the White House to allow the president a path to walk to the church. When he arrived, Trump held up a Bible and said, We have a great country. He was joined by members of his cabinet, including Attorney General Bill Barr. A curfew was issued for Washington, D.C. on Sunday at 7 p.m. EST. Trump made his voyage to the church moments after the curfew went into place. St. John’s is located a block away from the White House and has been visited by every president since James Madison. The bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of Washington condemned President Donald Trump on Monday for his visit to St. John’s Episcopal Church near the White House after law enforcement officers used tear gas to clear protesters from the area. June 1, 2020 CNN Washington, D.C. Let me be clear: The president just used a Bible, the most sacred text of the Judeo-Christian tradition, and one of the churches of my diocese without permission as a backdrop for a message antithetical to the teachings of Jesus and everything that our churches stand for, Bishop Mariann Edgar Budde told CNN. And to do sohe sanctioned the use of tear gas by police officers in riot gear to clear the church yard. I am outraged, Budde said. June 1, 2020 The Episcopal Church New York City The following is a statement from Presiding Bishop Michael Curry: This evening the President of the United States stood in front of St. John’s Episcopal Church, lifted up a bible, and had pictures of himself taken. In so doing, he used a church building and the Holy Bible for partisan political purposes. This was done in a time of deep hurt and pain in our country, and his action did nothing to help us or heal us. The bible teaches us that God is love. Jesus of Nazareth taught, You shall love your neighbor as yourself. The prophet Micah taught that the Lord requires us to do justice, love mercy and walk humbly with our God. The bible the President held up and the church that he stood in front of represent the values of love, of justice, of compassion, and of a way to heal our hurts. We need our President, and all who hold office, to be moral leaders who help us to be a people and nation living these values. For the sake of George Floyd, for all who have wrongly suffered, and for the sake of us all, we need leaders to help us to be one nation, under God, with liberty and justice for all.

If Black Lives Matter then Facebook should start censoring the posts of President Donald Trump when they incite violence; as Twitter has finally done. It's time to stand up to the bullies of the world who use social media for their own evil ends.

Lots of action around Grace Church this week. On the hall side of the church, a new triplex is being built. On the other side, the old Rectory, now a senior's home is having a new water main put in to accommodate a sprinkler system.
