Last call and see you soon! The GS shop is celebrating the last day of the ski season in Sutton with a special opening (except the workshop) from 9h to 15h, this Saturday. It was an honor and pleasure to be with you during this extraordinary winter and we thank you for your trust. During the summer season - which we wish you the sweetest - the GS team will work on refining its adventure shop concept where you'll find everything, everything, you need for your ski gear, especially for alpine touring. Changing of guard for summer toys A summer tenant will soon settle in the GS Ski Shop. #emobilitéCafé, which you know have a store in Sutton village, will open a satellite shop for the season in the workshop/boutique part of GS Ski Shop's base camp, up Maple Street. E-Mobilité will rent, sell and repair summer toys - electrically assisted mountain bikes - just by the Plein air Sutton trails. You will meet there familiar faces, including Joel Kirton. Of course, Patrick Desjardins and the band of jolly fellows from GS Ski Shop will be reintegrating the premises early fall to help you prepare for the 2021-22 ski season.

Your one stop shop Our Patrick Desjardins is full of resources, you already know that. Thanks to his contacts, reputation, experience and, yes, a few little magic tricks, he still manages to make the GS shop a one stop shop for all your alpine touring needs, despite the scarcity of material. We just received new arrivals of wonderful Dynastar M-Tour 87 skis, a fleet of new Lange XT3, climbing skins, Fritschi tech bindings, telescopic poles etc. And it's not over. A family affair Sutton, Lac Brome, skiing is a family affair for Xavier Lemaître. Through his father, Nicolas, Knowlton Academy Ski Program Manager, he met Pat, Joel and the whole GS Ski Shop Band. So it's natural that Xavier ended up at the shop and has become one of the technicians. In a few days he will be back on the road to Champlain College, in Saint-Lambert, where he studies in science, but you will see him at the shop on weekends.

Let's take advantage of our chance! When we compare ourselves, we comfort ourselves, and Quebec skiers can count themselves lucky to be able to continue to do their favorite sport. Our workshop is also open without appointment for board maintenance and repair, but you have to get there early for a tuneup for the next day. You don't know them, or a little, or a lot. Either way, we've been introducing the team of enthusiasts from the GS shop for the past few days, for whom to advise and serve you is pure pleasure. The rookie Louis-David Leblanc is the new kid on the block at the shop. Don't worry, he won't be subjected to a bad initiation. A rookie, we said, but not in the ski business. Louis-David has been teaching ski for six years, which he will do this winter on weekends, and you will see him at the shop during the week. So you'll be in good hands choosing your next boots and boards. He has been skiing at Mont Sutton since his early childhood and has been more attracted to glades than gates. This is a completely reasonable inclination considering the quality of the ungroomed offered by the Queen of the Township. Welcome young man!

The local girl Catherine Therrien doesn't come from the competition, or from the Canadian Ski Instructors Alliance, or from the freeski world. She's from here. Born in Cowansville, she frequents Mont Sutton because the mountain is there, has been her neighbor her whole life and has been part of her land...scape forever. She just planted her roots there. Friends were coming at the shop, I found myself here often and it clicked with the team. I'm on my third season, says Catherine. Over the years, you saw her at the Abordage, at the station's customer service and at E-Mobility Cafe. But do you know what Catherine is most proud of, apart from the skills acquired in offering ski equipment? Being Cham's keeper! See more

Amis de la boutique GS, voici une magnifique nouvelle : il y aura une saison de glisse en 2020-21, même si le vert covid passe au rouge, a annoncé l’Association des stations de ski du Québec! Bien sûr, les règles changeront au gré de la situation sanitaire, mais rien ne devrait empêcher les skieurs d’avoir un hiver blanc sur les pistes. Quelle salutaire bouffée d’air frais, quel soulagement et quelle perspective agréa...ble de partager avec vous notre montagne préférée. Vive le ski! L’imagerie 3D au service des skieurs Trouver la botte de ski optimale pour chaque skieur requiert de l’expérience, une connaissance poussée de la mécanique du pied et de l’intuition. Depuis quelques semaines, la boutique GS a ajouté un précieux outil à son arsenal : l’imagerie 3D. L’appareil développé par Sidas, your foot company, le Feetbox 3D, scanne les pieds et le bas de la jambe, détermine comment le poids du skieur se répartit sur chaque pied, mesure au millimètre près ...leur longueur et leur largeur et fouille dans une banque de données mondiale afin d’identifier quel modèle de quel fabricant convient le mieux à la morphologie des pieds du skieur. L’appareil permet même de déterminer à l’avance où seront les points de pression d’une botte donnée pour un pied donné afin d’aiguiller le technicien pour le travail sur le chausson et la coquille. Le Feetbox est un outil extraordinaire, résume Patrick Desjardins, proprio de la boutique. Il offre au client l’occasion de voir et de comprendre ce que des années de bootfitting nous ont appris . The versatile one It would be shorter to list what Joel Kirton has not done as a job in life. Office guy, resort janitor, ski instructor, ski coach, and obviously technician/seller/ bootfitter and quant tutti at the GS shop are all included in his resume. Joel started working with Patrick Desjardins in 201...1 part-time and full-time in 2013. I came to Sutton to regain the passion of skiing and fulfill my dream of becoming a ski bum. I was well served , he says with a big smile. Like his colleague Jean-Pierre Desrochers, Joel coaches the students of the Massey-Vanier sport program when he's not at the shop, where it sometimes feels like he's sleeping because we see him there so often. ;-) See more

Skier en toute liberté L’idée de skier dans la quiétude de la forêt ne date pas d’hier à Sutton - parlez-en à Claude Perreault et à Denis Bouvier mais elle n’a jamais autant séduit qu’au cours des dernières années. Pas étonnant, donc, que la boutique GS ait pris le virage randonnée alpine . Un exemple? La moitié de la cinquantaine de modèles de bottes actuellement sur notre mur présentoir sont compatibles avec les fixations techniques de rando. Et le plus beau, c’est que ces chaussures légères sont assez solides pour vous permettre de foncer à Mach 1 sur vos skis de carving préférés. De quoi faire quelques descentes en boucle avec les remontées mécaniques, le matin, et se réfugier dans les bois quand les lignes d’attente s’allongent

The conductor 20 years ! Even though he's still a young man, Patrick Desjardins has been rolling around the GS store for a fifth of a century, the last 13 years as an owner. In 2000, he just wanted to grab some tech experience at the Sutton's shop before going to Utah. Patrick became manager a few weeks later and he never left, so to speak. I see myself as a passion dealer. I'm a ski bum long before being a merchant , he says with conviction. You have certainly noticed, his vision made the shop a reference in the world of skiing, especially for bootfitting. Thank you maestro! And thank you Cham, of course. ;-)

Alain est un bon ami du GS, connaisseur de tout ce qui est ski / vélo, passionné de Sutton et écrivain émérite. ... Nos chemins se sont croisés à Sutton en chairlift en 2010 lors d'une tempête de 125 cm mi-novembre avec Jean-Luc Brassard. Moment mémorable en effet, tout comme les textes à venir.
