Subject: GVBCA Update Dear Community Members, All of you know, GVBCA is now run by the ADHOC Executive Committee. The pandemic CoronaVirus outbreak has been halted and life is not like before. The Coronavirus, or COVID-19 is having an impact on our (GVBCA) all festivals and events and causing cancelled or postponed. We tried many ways to call for an AGM and tried to book a hall or place and it has been refused.... Various municipalities within Metro Vancouver have announced their own policies to help minimize the spread of COVID19. These included ordering the closure of municipally-run all facilities like recreation centres, theatres, gyms and others. Most cities even closed all their playgrounds and sports courts. The B.C. Government recently empowered police and other enforcement staff to impose fines of up to $2,000 for people who host or organize parties in violation of COVID-19 . It has been announced after the province’s coronavirus infection rate jumped in recent weeks. Public health officials identified that the majority of the new cases have been infected through contact tracing in parties and family gatherings. Owners and organizers can be fined for having parties and gatherings exceeding the numbers and failing to keep a contact list who have attended. Fines of $200 will be imposed on people who are not hosts or organizers but to violate public health orders. So, community members, please follow all the government instructions to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Remain safe & stay healthy. With Warm Regards, Dr Shariful Alam Tulu Hafizur Rahman Khan Suman Haroon Rashid Members of Adhoc EC

Subject: AGM 2020 GVBCA Dear Community Members, Together, we are facing a truly unprecedented situation. The global corona virus pandemic is affecting all our families, our businesses, our communities and our way of life. During this time, as an ADHOC EC, we want to update you on the upcoming AGM of GVBCA.... As per our GVBCA constitution, we are supposed to have an AGM for 2020 in the month of May. In this AGM, one of the important agendas is to form an Election Commission to conduct an Election for next Executive Committee 2020 -21, for GVBCA office. In this pandemic situation, we had to take the legal opinion through the lawyer as ADHOC Executive Committee wants to take right steps by following BC by laws & GVBCA constitution. We also looked for the options to conduct AGM in online through Zoom or Skype or with other method exist. As per the legal advice by lawyer after reviewing constitution, BC Registration Authority & BC by laws, GVBCA cannot hold nonphysical AGM and we need to postpone the AGM for now. We have to wait till the situation improves. ADHOC EC decided to follow the legal advice & will hold AGM as quick as possible when BC government lifts the restrictions & situation improve. Till then, present ADHOC EC will continue to run the office of GVBCA. Our hearts go out to anyone who have been impacted by the virus, either directly or indirectly. Our thoughts are especially with those who are sick, to whom we extend our heartfelt wishes for a full recovery. And we're truly inspired by the selfless health care workers in BC and across Canada as well as around the world who are on the front lines working tirelessly to care for people in need. We say thank you to all and wishes all for a good health. Please remain safe, stay home & follow government instructions. Please let us know if you need any help in this difficult time. We will try our best with our limited resources. These are for your information please. Regards From GVBCA ADHOC EC Dr Shariful Alam Tulu Mr Hafizur Rahman Khan Haroon Rashid

Dear Parents & Teachers of Bangla School, We are currently facing an unprecedented situation in our community due to Covid19. The health and safety of our community members and their families is our priority. The declaration of a public health emergency, the various public health recommendations, government mandated restrictions on gatherings, the need for social distancing, this impacted all of us. While these restrictions and circumstances seriously impact us, unfortunately..., they are beyond our control. As a result, we from GVBCA already postponed our Independence Day Celebration of Bangladesh & Boishakhi Mela program. I am sending this message to inform you all that we are also keeping our Bangla School closed temporarily due to the same reason. We will re-open the school & we will communicate you all when situation permits. Please remain safe & follow the instructions given by government authority. Thank you. Regards Haroon Rashid On behalf Interim EC of GVBCA
