Covid -19 Update: Please be assured that veterinary services are considered essential and that all of us at HVS are adhering to AHS Health regulation and policy in order to continue safely seeing your horses, cats, and dogs! A few small changes to help keep everyone safe: ... ALL visits to the clinic must be by appointment only! Please wear a mask when you visit. Medication pick up: We are now moving to a Drive-Thru medication pick up! Please try to give us 24 hours notice to prepare your prescriptions for your cats, dogs, AND horses and we will arrange a time for prescription pick up. We are pleased to offer two contactless payment options: contactless credit card payment or interact e-transfer. Give us a call at 780-467-3765 when you arrive to pick up your medication and one of our staff members will bring it out to you in your car! Appointments: Please only visit the clinic with an appointment. When you arrive, please call the clinic at 780-467-3765 to let us know you are here and we will come greet you and your pet and get you settled into the exam room. We are super excited that Lindsay is having a baby but that means we have a full time veterinary technician spot available to cover her maternity leave for a year and if everything works out the position will be long term. Position starts as soon as you are available. While Herbers Veterinary Services is a small animal and equine practice, this position would not require equine experience - however equine experience would be an asset. We pride ourselves on being a smaller bu...sy practice with excellent staff. Position includes office work, answering phones, filling prescriptions, anesthesia, patient care, dentistry and radiology, and all general things associated with the workings of a Veterinary clinic. New Covid-19 policy - One at a time. Hi we thought we'd touch base again and let you know about a few small changes we've adopted at HVS to do our part to limit clients exposure to each other. When you arrive, have one person pop in to the front and let the girls know you are there and what you may need. If there is going to be an extended wait to either get into the exam room or to fill a prescription, they will grab a cell# and have you wait in your car until they are ready... for you. As you know our building isn't the biggest. We think this small action will allow us to help keep a little distance between clients and to wipe down surfaces between visitors. This may be overkill but we feel these actions will make it easier to keep everyone healthy, including HVS staff. On another note Westie feels like everyone is a bit down, and that we could all use a little silly right now. So Westie (with the help of her friends) is going to make a few extra appearances the next few weeks. Take care everyone!!

Hi everyone. I know that this is a really distressing time for everyone in our province and region. We really didn't need a global pandemic to add to our worries. To help answer some of the questions we have been receiving, we've posted a link to an ABVMA Covid - 19 FAQ sheet. I find that one of the best ways to deal with worry is to be proactive and prepared - and I don't mean toilet paper . There are a few practical things you can do to be prepared for yourself and y...our pet. Don't run low on medication - try to have a few weeks left at least in case you are required to isolate. Don't run low on pet food especially if you have a pet who has special dietary needs. Avoid visiting any health compromised people if you have been travelling or at any large gatherings. Stay informed of any new recommendations by AHS. Remember that healthy people rarely succumb to this virus. We need are taking these measures to protect vulnerable people. Don't panic and don't despair! If you have questions that can't be answered by the FAQ page, give us a call. We'll do our best to answer them. Thanks to everyone who sent Paddy (Dr. Sam's horse) happy thoughts over the last week. He is home, safe and sound after giving us a horrible scare. Thanks to all the great people at Delaney's who worked overtime to pull Paddy through. Nothing is worse than having to take care of a vet's animal.
