THE HIGH DRIVE NEWS REPORT On February 19, 2021 at 2:55 AM the High Drive K9 Services Search & Rescue Division was conducting training in a treed area on the West end of Wetaskiwin. The teams wrapped up their training and left the area. One team located a Ford F550 with its hazards lights on parked behind a west end business. Further observation the HDK9 member noticed that the door to the truck was punched out. The HDK9 member then called the Wetaskiwin RCMP and dispatch as...ked for the licence plate. HDK9 Diesel was deployed as it was in a dark area and unknown if suspects were still in the area and possibly ready to ambush the team. While on the phone Diesel within seconds conducted a track without even being asked too. The member had one hand on Diesel’s leash (Diesel was not geared up appropriately at the time for tracking) and the other hand on the phone with dispatch. Diesel conducted a 200 yard track through one yard and two fenced compounds and located two male suspects walking away dodging between busses. Dispatch was updated and the RCMP were on route. The one male was armed with a screw driver and once he was introduced to Diesel, the male placed the screwdriver on the ground as instructed. Both males were asked to take a seat until Police showed up which took them seconds to attend and arrested both males. The one suspect was well known to Police and was out on several release documents. He was charged for breaching several conditions and Mischief to, two vehicles in the which Diesel had tracked to and damage was noted. Awesome team work by HDK9 Diesel, his handler and the RCMP. This situation is why we use ex-police as our dog handlers as this situation may have been deadly as the male had a weapon on him and there was several places to hide and ambush the team. A well trained member and his K9 apprehended the suspects with no force used and zero injuries. FYI if you have businesses in the west end near Tire Craft, take a look to see if any damage was down to your property and report it to the RCMP.

SECURITY PATROL REPORT On January 9, 2020 at approximately 10:30 P.M. High Drive K9 Services K9 Unit was travelling from one clients business, to the next when they came across three individuals that were harassing a lone female behind a bank in Wetaskiwin, Alberta. The group was yelling at the female as she was walking away from the bank. HDK9 member attended the area and one of the individuals started yelling at the member. While they were yelling K9 Diesel decided to bark... back and the three individuals then left the area. The lone female then thanked security and left safely. At 11:30 P.M. HDK9 Security received a call of shots fired, near their clients residence just East of Maskwacis, Alberta. The client then stated that a truck took off and attempted to run over their dog. Members attended the area and extensive patrols were made. Suspect vehicle was gone on arrival.

Security Patrol Division On November 2, 2020 at approximately 3:30 A.M., High Drive K9 Services patrol team were travelling from one business to the next when they observed a member of the public was in danger behind a local bar in Wetaskiwin, Alberta. A male was grossly intoxicated and trying to pick a fight with a member of the public. HDK9 security guard attended where the male became aggressive towards the security guard, which the male was taken to the ground, handcuffe...d and arrested. The member of the public was very thankful for HDK9 attending and preventing them from receiving further harm. RCMP attended the scene and transported the male to the detachment where he was lodged until sober.
