Day four for the Holland Power Services crews that responded to Pennsylvania to assist with emergency power restorations following the significant damage caused by severe thunderstorms that impacted the area late Wednesday. Crews have been challenged by the amount of damage and the high temperatures. It is with heavy hearts that we share that Jacob Bowie, an apprentice line worker with HPS, passed away in a tragic accident while four wheeling last weekend. Jake will be missed dearly; he leaves us with memories of his character, friendliness, good nature and work ethic. Our thoughts, prayers and condolences go out to Jake's family and friends. http://www.clcurry.com/obituaries/145964

A big shout out to Riggs Distler, Holland Power Services and other affiliate line workers working alongside Central Maine Power to restore power to the midcoast... and other parts of Maine hit hard by last week's nor'easter and yesterday's wind/rain storm. We were very happy to accommodate them at Lord Camden Inn, Grand Harbor Inn, and 16 Bay View the past several days. Through rain and hail, snow and wind, hurricanes and tornados, our linemen are there. Have you thanked a lineman today? See more

Restoration efforts are now beginning to wind down at the utilities that Holland Power Services partnered with on the winter snowstorm, which was then followed by a windstorm a few days later. The vast majority of impacted customers have had their power restored, but HPS crews continue to work at 3 separate companies finishing up repairs and restoring the electricity delivery systems to normal conditions. As we complete these efforts in the next couple of days, we would like... to extend our thanks to the Holland employees who trusted us with ensuring their health and safety, our utility partners who went the extra mile to take appropriate measures to help in those efforts, and to the general public for the tremendous support and encouragement we received, while also respecting social distancing. Stay safe, stay positive and wash your hands!

One last blast from winter (hopefully)! Crews from Holland Power Services responded to widespread outages throughout the state of Maine, resulting from wet, heavy snow and high winds. The timing of the storm, during the Covid-19 global pandemic, presents unique challenges to working safely and places additional hardships on all those affected by the pandemic.

Holland New England crews assisted with power restoration in the State of Maine following outages caused by wet, heavy snow in this late March snowstorm. Even in these times of pandemic concerns, electricity is critical to lives and livelihood, and our linemen are ready to assist our partner utilities to safely and efficiently restore power following these events. Kudos to Central Maine Power for the excellent protocols they had in place to ensure the health and safety of the public and all the line personnel!

Fortunately the storm that hit the Northeast this week did not result in the damage and outages that were predicted; however, approximately 50 US based Holland Power personnel were kept busy assisting our utility partners with restoring their customers.

Holland Power Services crews have been working restoring power in numerous areas in 3 separate states following the ice and wind storm that hit portions of the Northeast this weekend. This photo is from the southern Adirondacks in NYS.

Fortunately, the devastating ice storm that was predicted to impact parts of the northern US and southern Canada was not as severe as predicted and all Holland crews have been released from those locations and companies. However, Holland crews were then picked up to re-locate to western NY where winds caused significantly more damage than anticipated. Those crews have been out working, and are finding a large number of broken poles and downed conductors.

Ice. Possibly lots of it... Holland crews are staged tonight in several areas in the northern US to be ready to assist our utility partners if the predicted ice event results in power outages. All crews arrived safely and are ready if the icing event does occur. Hopefully the temperatures will remain high enough to prevent significant icing...

All of our crews returned home safe and sound after the recent activation to numerous companies, states and areas. We are posting this photo that one of our line workers took from one of the roads he was on not because it is showing any work, but just because we liked it! We wish everyone a happy, safe and healthy New Year!

Some HPS crews continue to work in difficult sections restoring power and rebuilding electrical delivery systems that were severely damaged by heavy snow and ice in higher elevation areas of southeastern NY. As we wrap up our work following this storm, we would like to thank the residents for their patience and cooperation and for the tremendous support we receive from our utility partners!

Winds, then lots of snow... Holland Power crews are now on the 8th consecutive day of either mobilizing to, or working at, the recent winter storms. We have responded to numerous companies throughout the northeast and are still working in various locations in New York State restoring the electric distribution systems to it's normal (or improved!) conditions. A big thank you to all the wonderful customers who have treated our line workers so well; we have numerous stories of people bringing coffee, and even sandwiches to our workers, especially on Thanksgiving Day! This has been a very long haul, but our people love what they do and we all take a lot of joy and are proud to be able to assist our utility partners in restoring power to those who are impacted by these storms!
