Hoops House 17.10.2020

For the last five years this left hand had built up callouses that had been strengthened, conditioned and maintained opening thirsty people's beer bottles. With bars being closed down for four months, this essential tool has gotten out of shape. So do me a favour please! Don't look at it as day drinking on a Sunday, look at it as helping to restrengthen this bartenders bottle opening hand! I thank you in advance for your help and support! - Jess @ Hoop's House 924 Oxford St E 519 657 6766 Ps. I'm here all day, I look forward to seeing you!

Twas the day before Christmas and all through Hoop's House, not much was stirring...Only Carb at the bar (and he can be quiet as a mouse.) The liquors and spirits set out on the shelves with care in hopes that more patrons would soon be there. The little tree was all snug next to the til - which Jeff had visions in his head hoping to fill. Ken and his laptop and I with my bar slop, just settled down for a long afternoon in this little neighborhood stop. When out in the parkin...g lot arose such a clatter, I sprang from behind the bar to see what was the matter. Away to the front windows I flew, like a flash. Tore open the door, kicking up butts and cigarette ash. And what to my wondering eyes appear? But a bar crawl of eight regulars did appear, and a leader among his peers! More rapid then eagles, his thirsters they came. He whistled and shouted them by name: "Now Bobbye! Now Preston! Now Scott! Now Bent! On Bob! On Louise! On Penguin and Grant! To the bar top! Then to our spots! Now shots and beer! Beer and shots! Shots and beer for all! As only true regulars will do, into the bar they fly. The bar top the only obstacle between them and I. So up to the bar they flew, each wanting their favorite brew. And for a second I could only hear the ice machine thinking. Then I heard them clatter against the brass rail, there was even the impatient tapping of someone's nails. As I drew in my breath, started to count down...in came Jake with a bound! He was grinning from ear to ear, his face didn't have it's usual sneer! In fact he looked as if he hadn't yet had much beer! His eyes how they twinkled! His dimples how merry! His cheeks like roses! His nose as bright as a cherry! His droll little mouth was drawn up in a bow. The stubble on his chin as white as snow! The stump of his earlier smoke clenched tight in his teeth; thank god it was out, for there was no smoke circling his head like a wreath. He had a jolly face, and not much of a belly, but he manages to laugh so hard he shakes like a bowl of jelly. He stood straight, not a slump; looked full of health. I giggled in spite of myself. A wink of his eye and a nod of his head, soon gave me reason to feel a bit of dread. He spoke not a word, so I got to work filling his jug- before he became a jerk. Laying his finger to the side of his nose, and giving a nod he said "You'll do fine here I suppose." He sprang to his stool and to his team he gave a whistle. He gave them his approval - which was like diffusing a missile. And I heard him exclaim, as he sat there upon his perch above them all "CHEERS AND MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL, AND TO ALL IT'S GOING TO BE A GOOD NIGHT!" See more
