Yesterday two of our long time friends left for their next chapter. We were blessed to have Smokey and Carmel go to the sister of the lady that purchased Pepper. We stay in touch and Pepper is doing so well and now helping children learn how to ride. Thank you Cora and Carol for giving our friends a wonderful home and Tammy for getting them there safely.

Three of our horses left today to start a new life with a young family in Alberta. It was very hard to see them go but we are grateful they are going to a nice home. We will miss you Rosie, Kink, and Sprite.

Moonbeam - we had a fantastic day today. She walked easily around in the round pen and then we went out in the yard and into the trailer!! A wonderful surprise! Her and Ringo will be going to their forever home fairly soon as Ringo and I made progress as well. A pleasure to have the opportunity to work with these amazing creatures that are teaching me something new almost daily.

I had a great day with the horses today. Rosey and Kink both went for a walk and went in and out of the trailer several times. I took Kink out on the road for a walk and he seemed quite comfortable. These two are headed to their forever home at the end of the week. I will miss them but I know they are going to a wonderful home. A young couple with three little boys.

Good Evening Everyone! I hope that you are able to manage this cold weather. As I have mentioned in one of the videos due to my husbands years of health issues we have not managed our herd size nor have we kept up with training and registering. We are doing much better now that Vince is feeling better however we have way too many horses and must reduce the herd size significantly. It is very difficult to part with any of them as we love them very much given that it is very important to us that they go to caring homes. This is the younger group of horses and you may recognize Bobby from the videos. If you are interested in any please feel free to message or call.

Learning how to lift his feet. I have been spending time attempting to get Bobby comfortable lifting and holding his feet up for the farrier and i have been experiencing a few challenges. I decided to make an inquiry to the "From Foal to Dream Horse" Facebook group by Gabi Neurohr -Understansing the Horse and got some great information. We have been doing some of the techniques but now I have more techniques as well confirmation that I was on the right track. Thank you folks in the group and thank you Gabi who took the time to answer my question.

Bobby's first saddle!! We have been having some great fun and also some frustrations. Earlier this week I was tired and had sore muscles from a new exercise program and the cold weather was headed this way which I think Bobby was being affected by. The horses in the pasture were running around and wrestling with.each other which is also a sign of a weather change. Anyway with these factors in mind you can imagine what our walk was like. Ha ha Bobby was really reacting a...nd displaying bratty teenage behavior. He was trying to rub on me and as hard as I tried to keep him out of my space he kept testing me. Being tired and sore my patience was not as good as it usually is resulting in both of us being totally fed up with each other by the time we got back to the barn. I was not too eager to walk him the next day but I felt much better and took the plunge. It went so well, I really enjoyed our time together. We went for walks in new places and through deep snow which he was fine with. Today we also had a great walk and then he was introduced to a little saddle. Vince was using his screw gun doing repairs on the barn but Bobby still did fantastic. We are best friends again. Ha ha See more

Today I shared some early experiences i had with horses - not all good! Along with the importance of picking a new horse for the right reasons and not just color or height. There are many factors that go into choosing the right horse with a few of them being: your skill level and the level of training of the horse, how much do you really know about the horse, your available pasture and funds for expenses such as hay, training, farrier, dental, vet etc. Please be sure to do your research so you and the horse have many wonderful years together. As for Bobby and I, we finally got out for a walk today. I took him through the deep snow and a few new areas. He did very well and found the deep snow much easier than I did!

The weather has been cold and windy so I have not worked with Bobby too much this week but we do hang out everyday. I bring him into the barn for a visit, a snack of oats and a visit with a stallion we call Joe. Over the panel of course so no one gets hurt. Then he goes back out to his corral. Watch the two interact a bit today. Crazy boys! Lol Today I shared my excitement over chatting with Gayle from Cartier Learning Centre which triggered some memories I shared. It was an excellent day!! Take care everyone.

We had a super walk today! Bobby walked farther and longer than ever. We walked up to the house as Vince was coming out and with Vince's assistance Bobby almost walked onto the sidewalk! The areas we covered today: - the fact that horses are prey animals with eyes on the side of their heads giving them almost 360 degree vision however they do not have the ability to judge details of what they see close up so they will run away in case the motion they see is a predator. O...nce a safe distance away they will stop and check it out. - we discussed horses blind spots and the importance of not approaching a horse from a blind spot, for your safety. - the sensitive areas of a horse such as the top of the head or poll. - also a fun way to build your relationship with your horse by finding their scratchy spot and respecting their way of interacting in the world. - see you next time with more of Bobby and information on horses. I love just being with the horses and hearing them casually munching.

We walked for longer and farther today. One of the dogs came running around the bales and scared him causing a spook and escape from me but he was very easy to snag again. We walked until I could tell he was at his threshold for the day and he went back to his buddy for supper. I look forward to tomorrow. I may take him farther. Stay tuned.

Before going out for our first walk Bobby was introduced to the saddle pad. I was very impressed with how well he did. He carried it around for a while and I took it off and put it back on several times from both sides. He was definitely more sensitive on the right side.

This is Bobby's first time on lead outside his corral. He was very nervous of all the new sights and sounds but he did settle down. We worked on his respecting my space and getting exposed to new areas. Before leaving his corral we spent time working on his leading: we went through the tunnel several times and he was introduced to the saddle blanket. It was a great experience and I look forward to tomorrow.
