Lucifer is a wonderfully sweet little boy that was recently adopted by his owners from the OSPCA in Toronto. Within a few days his eyes became very uncomfortable covered with a heavily mineralized white plaque (see first pictures). Lucifer was diagnosed with a relatively uncommon condition of Herpes virus eosinophilic keratitis. Luckily due to his owner's quick action for having him seen and diagnosed, we were able to initiate treatment that has prevented permanent damage to his eyes and within a few short weeks his eyes are looking great!

Teddy is a super lucky dog. Most dogs that encounter a porcupine do not fair too badly but poor Teddy had many hundreds of quills imbedded all throughout his neck and chest. Ultimately Teddy displayed a significant willingness to continue his life with his loving parents as he underwent a full sternal thoracotomy, partial lung lobectomy (removal of part of his lung) and even removal of quills from the pericardium (the sac around his heart). We are happy to report after one of the more extensive ICU stays we have ever been involved with Teddy is back to his normal self and doing great!

In response to some recent posts I would again hope this message makes its way to as many people as possible. We indeed have a program in place, that has been in place for 2 years and was widely announced, that for a mere $5 per month for the entire family (not per pet) you have access to a live veterinarian 24/7/365. There are also significant benefits with this program with rebate points that are applied directly to the cost of veterinary care as well as other significant ...benefits. See below for the link or call us for more information on this program. We helped to create this membership program as the only hospitals in the region to provide such comprehensive assistance to help alleviate concerns with the changing veterinary environment and the difficulties we encountered in trying to provide on-call services continually throughout the year with the tremendous seasonal influx of people and pets. We are here for our clients and their 4-legged companions, both seasonal and especially local, and will continue to strive to provide exemplary care and service. You are important to us and the care of your pet is our highest priority! Sincerely, Dr. Jason McLeod and team at Huntsville & Bracebridge Animal Hospitals https://health.gofetch.ca/

Wonderful Wrigley presented as a serious emergency with a severe grass and pine needle impaction causing a gastric (stomach) bloat. Thanks to Wrigley’s mom for her fast action to bring her in so we could jump to action to save her with emergency surgery. Wrigley recovered rapidly and promised never to eat some much again (we are not sure her fingers weren’t crossed!) **see comments for video
