Ignite Circus

Come play with us! The Ignite Circus Social Circus Program will be hosting an open jam this Sunday, April 18th from 1-3 at The Dance House Downtown (685 Water Street, in the Marshall Building). We have lots of floor space and nice, high ceilings!... If you're looking to make new friends, try something new, or just get out of the house and move, we'd love to see you! Don't worry if you don't have any of your own things to juggle, we'll have lots of toys available to share too! Please note that we will be keeping attendance numbers to a limited capacity, so be sure to arrive early to guarantee your spot. Masks will be required for those who are able to wear them, and please, if you are feeling sick, do stay home, we'll have more opportunities to play together in the future! Also, although we are a family friendly organization, we recognize that it's usually the kids who get the time to play, so this play time is for the big kids, or the "adults," as some might also call them. We encourage attendees to be at least 14 years old for this event, although there is no upper age limit, because you're never too old to play. We have so much to celebrate! April 3 2021 is Social Circus Day, and the entire month of April also happens to be the month dedicated to Autism acceptance and awareness! What a great time to celebrate the end of another awesome semester full of great gains with our social circus students, too! When a second outbreak of Covid-19 put a hold on in-person classes, our students continued to practice their circus skills at home by following personalized video tutorials and visual ...guides prepared for them by our amazing instructors. The results were a fabulous culmination of skills and creativity that pushed the boundaries of what our friends and their families believed to even be possible. This talent show was first premiered as an exclusive watch party for the students in our social circus program, and then made a national debut during Cirque Hors Piste's Spectacle de Ciraskina édition 2021 on March 26th 2021. Honour neurodiversity, today, and every day! April is Autism Awareness month, and April 2nd is World Autism Day! Let's take a moment to celebrate our friends with ASD, and our partners at the Autism Society, Newfoundland & Labrador who work year round to support our friends as they learn and grow!

We had such a wonderful time sending "Warm Wishes" to our friends at Pleasant View Towers! Today we celebrate community, and share gratitude that we can celebrate together. After an extended hiatus due to Covid-19, we’re excited to finally announce the beginning of our newest semester of programming with Ignite Circus We have so many new things to share with our friends and circus family this season too! We have a new location ... We are thrilled to be sharing a gorgeous studio space with The Dance House Downtown in the Marshall Building at 685-687 Water Street! This space will serve as a lovely interim location until we can secure a location that is more physically accessible. The studio itself is stunning and is located just across from Victoria Park and the Orange Store on Water Street, central to public transport, and close to our friends at Thrive too! We have a new instructor His name is Jamie and he can balance just about anything on his face!! Jaime's unique experience allows him to say he has blown balls of fire in Victoria Park, juggled with Ronald McDonald himself and had his clown suspenders snapped by multiple provincial premiers. In addition he has been the technical director of a major social circus festival in Northern Labrador, facilitated workshops for all ages and abilities from St. John's to St. Anthony and organized the logistics of bringing multiple international circus artists to a tour across rural Newfoundland and to the French overseas territory of St. Pierre. Jamie will be an incredible asset to our team, and we look forward to learning and growing together over the next semester!
