We get so many clients that have had their furry family members have accidents on the carpet, so I put together this graphic to try to show what has actually happened and what we need to deal with when we are trying to decontaminate your carpet. First, what you see, either with your naked eye or with our blacklight is the tip of the proverbial iceberg, most of the problem is not in the pile, it is under the pile, it is in the backing and the under cushion. Second, if someone ...treats a carpet with urine in it, without dealing with the urine first they risks spreading and actually making the problem even worse. Unless you know what you are doing, NEVER try this, this is not a DYI type project and you can make it so bad that the only option will be replacing the carpet... What should happen is all the urine should be removed that is under the pile. With the right products, equipment and procedures this is something that can be done, we do it all the time, and have very happy clients.

There are a lot of different companies out there offering to clean your carpets, how do you decide which to use? -price?... -reviews? -How about cleaning methods and techniques? In Grande Prairie, basically it breaks down to two main methods: Hot Water Extraction (HWE, commonly referred to as Steam Cleaning) or some version of Encapsulation Cleaning ( LMC, Low Moisture Cleaning) Which do we offer? Actually we use both. However, for residential carpets, we firmly believe that the BEST clean comes from Truck Mount HWE. We only use LMC on low pile commercial carpets where we feel this method does a good job and is much more cost effective for clients. Of course every company is going to claim and most likely believe that they do the best job so how do you, as the consumer, decide. Here are cleaning requirements from the three largest carpet manufacturers. Mohawk requires professional hot water cleaning every 18 months using cleaning products, equipment, or systems that carry the Carpet Rug Institute Seal of Approval. Shaw Professional service must be performed by an IICRC Certified Firm. Shaw warranties require that the homeowner be able to show proof of periodic cleaning by and IICRC certified cleaning professional. Beaulieu Select a service that uses the deep extraction method;....hot water extraction. At JARDIS we meet and exceed these standards. So why don't all companies clean this way? Bottom line is you can start a business WAY cheaper with LMC equipment than you can with quality Truck Mount HWE, and make a higher profit margin. There is less gas, less time, less up keep, even less cost with storage as the equipment takes up way less room. So you can make your offers very appealing and sometimes the results look pretty good to the eye....but it is NOT deep cleaning the same way HWE does...not even close. Otherwise we wouldn't bother with the HWE as I mentioned we HAVE all the equipment to offer residential LMC.....
