To ensure that our newest project will be given the time it requires, the Friends of Jasper National Park will be contributing over $22,000.00 of management, coordination and facilitation time. In addition, we will be raising funds for the purchase and operation of a Snowdog machine to flat-pack trails. Funds will specifically be used for the purchase of a Snowdog and accessories; insurance coverage for the Snowdog, volunteers and storage; general operational costs, including fuel, oil changes and maintenance; required signage and PPE; and more. For more information and to donate, visit https://give.friendsofjasper.com/
Enhance your winter in Jasper National Park by providing input into our newest project Your input as winter trail users will help guide our decisions about what trails, additional to our initial commitment, should be flat-packed as part of this project. Fill out the survey at the link below! ... Have questions? Don’t hesitate to call, email or message us directly. https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/7B3KBQZ
Wondering what trails we will be flat-packing next winter*? To ensure that we can offer trail users a quality flat-pack, we will be starting with an initial commitment to flat-pack 25kms of carefully-selected trail accessible from the Jasper townsite. Once we reach a point that this can be sustainably managed, additional trails will be added. To help guide our decisions on these additional trails, we will be seeking input from trail users. ... Keep an eye out for our Winter Project Input Survey coming later this week! *The project start date is dependent on reaching our fundraising goal. See more

Mayor Richard Ireland is asking that visitors to Jasper follow COVID-19 rules. Watch the YouTube video here:
Fresh ice is starting to form around the national park. However, please be aware that many factors can impact the conditions of ice. Before skating, ensure ice ...is at least 15cm thick for solo skating, or 20cm for a game of hockey. This is essential as falling through could be deadly. As a reminder, Parks Canada does NOT monitor ice conditions. If you choose to skate on wild ice, you do so at your own risk. Do you care about Jasper's trails? Each year we have the opportunity to put forth a work plan for Park approval and we want your input! Our annual trail feedback survey is a place to share the trails you care about and want to see improved. The input received will help us build our 2021 work plan. Survey ends on November 23, 2020
Last year, we asked about the trails you care about and want to see improved. Based on your feedback, we are happy to announce that we will be breaking ground on a trail upgrade of Hochimini in 2021! Hochimini wont be our only project site next year, keep an eye out for our annual trail feedback survey to provide your input into our 2021 work plan
Jasper National Park had announced that as of November 1, 2020, the boundaries of the winter caribou habitat closure in the Maligne Range will change to allow some limited opportunities for recreation, while maintaining 96% of the area of the Maligne-Brazeau seasonal closure that keeps a large area of the park free from human disturbance for four months of the year. This means that winter access to some terrain in the Bald Hills and the area between Big Shovel and Little Shov...el Passes is no longer restricted. Two trails allow access to these two separate areas: Jeffery Creek Trail, accessed by crossing the Maligne River at Rosemary’s Rock Bald Hills Trail, accessed from the parking lot at the end of Maligne Lake Road For more details, please visit: https://www.pc.gc.ca//nat/conservation/mesuresap-bcactions
Boat owners, don't forget today, October 20, is the deadline for removing watercraft from shorelines across the park. Parks Canada would like to thank boat o...wners who have already co-operated by removing their watercraft from Jasper National Park. The removal of these watercraft allows us all to be part of protecting and preserving the pristine beauty of our natural areas. Parks Canada’s fire crew is still hard at work in Oregon! Finding and extinguishing embers and removing fuel before another fire starts are important tactic...s to control wildfires. Sophisticated technology, such as thermal imaging cameras, can be used to help identify these hot spots. Often, fire crews have to dig through layers of duff or cut deadfall to fully extinguish the embers. #Thankyoufirefighters #Thankyoufirstresponders Jasper National Park Grasslands National Park Rouge National Urban Park Bruce Peninsula National Park and Fathom Five National Marine Park Pukaskwa National Park Parks Canada NWT #PrinceAlbertNP #WoodBuffaloNP

We all agreed. Crosstrails of Confusion is the most challenging trail, the JTA has had the pleasure of building. Pleasure, if you mean; steep sidehill, roots, roots and roots. No problem for this gang, it was gung ho, adapt and improvise. Rooty thanks to all
One spot just opened in tonights LAST scheduled trail session of the season Click the link below to register!
What a beautiful evening for trailwork on the Crosstrails of Confusion site. The bugs were bearable, the spruce wasn't too prickly, duff, pretty minimal, and even the roots seemed to be mellow and kind. A beautiful evening indeed. Thanks to all who helped tonight :)
Despite the looming, grey gloom of rain and thunderous thunder, the hardy five made it happen. HUGE thanks to tonight's volunteers :) The gals and Lloyd tackled duff removal ( new trail construction) on Crosstrails of Confusion while two others, dove into the overgrown 6a, to receive their Level One Certification. Thanks all.
