Long Post Ahead!!! I’ve made a choice to scale back a little when it comes to the number of weddings I’m taking on in 2019. Not because I don’t love weddings, but because my curious nature has me wondering what other stories are out there needing to be told. When you’re shooting 32-36 weddings a year there’s not room for much else. So this year I’m focusing my wedding energy to some super amazing couples and the extra time will be dedicated to digging into more photojour...nalism (families and other stories). So here’s where YOU come in: If you’re located in the GTA & going through a life event, if you’re open to allowing me into nitty gritty of your world to tell your story, PLEASE get in touch! I’ll be taking on at least one or two personal photojournalism projects this coming year and I believe any type of journey is worth documenting. I’m interested in stories about humanity, connection, and life. Maybe you’re going through the process of adoption or surrogacy, maybe you’re in treatment for cancer, perhaps you’re training support dogs, maybe you’re singing in a musical at the age of 86, or maybe you’ve been in an accident and are learning to do everything all over again... Lemme be really honest with you for a second. The people you choose to have at your side on your wedding day can make or break your experience. Not all wedding parties support, help, and love... Some make the day about themselves & complain endlessly about their hair, the heat, and pretty much anything they can think of. Some are rude to vendors (trust me), some get wasted at 10am and ruin photos, and some are just plain difficult. So choose wisely. Just because you've known someone since grade 1 doesn't mean they'll be a good support for you on your big day. Oh, and for the record, this bunch was 100% awesome - they were so kind & welcoming to us and fully had M&K's backs. All. Day. Choose these kinds of people.

A lot of people I work with stress over where to do their engagement/wedding photos. The truth is, location's really not that important if you're willing to put aside your insecurities and focus on each other. I drove an hour and 20 minutes out to a gorgeous rushing river location to photograph these two last night and wouldn't you know it, one of my favourite images could have been taken just about anywhere. Location is secondary, love is everything.

Sometimes time flies so fast that I actually have no clue where it went. Seems like just yesterday that I cruised the back alleys near High Park with these sweet creatures... and tomorrow they're getting married. Congrats Laurel & Victor - we can't wait!!!
