Last night we were chatting about where we would like to go once we can freely travel again. We talked about all of our stops throughout Italy and how fun that trip was and then the kids really lit up when they started thinking about our last trip to Mexico. In their words it was relaxing, they loved the food, tropical drinks from the swim up pool bar (one of them is looking forward to the adult wristband next time). Our large group also had what we like to call "our pool" ev...eryday. It was the fun pool that had a ping pong table beside it, pool volleyball and a huge sand court volleyball area, aqua aerobics and so much entertainment. On top of that we had fun at the waterslides daily, enjoyed a fun family disco night on the beach as well as aerobics in the ocean one day and massages on the beach just down from our hotel. I think it is safe to say that this might be where we end up on our next trip! I thought I would share what is showing up on Sunwing right now for a family like ours. 3 adults, 2 children ages 13 & 17. This is for two connecting rooms which is what we had last time and the same time of year which turned out to be 30+ degrees everyday! We’re thrilled at Sierra Travel to see Dr. Tammy Paulgaard-McKnight step into the role of Chief Medical Officer with Westjet. She is a brilliant doctor with a successful clinic in Airdrie, Alberta who we know will do amazing work in this position. She also happens to be from our small home town of Provost, Alberta too so of course we’re extra proud of her and trust that she will do great things because we’ve witnessed it for years! At SIERRA Travel we like to keep you right up to date on TRAVEL stuff!! TODAY.. is pretty ugly!! The Government of Canada has worked with airlines and all fligh...ts to MEXICO and the CARIBBEAN !!! THIS SUSPENSION TAKES EFFECT THIS Monday, FEB. 1 ST!! The airlines involved are Westjet, Air Canada, Sunwing and Transat. Along with this strict quarantine requirements are in place that are at the travellers expense and involve double testing and hotel stays!. Along with this the traveller will have to pay for private tests (twice). You will have to stay at an approved hotel ( 3 days) at your expense. If the second test comes back positive you will be sent to a Government quarantine centre for a 14 day quarantine. The estimated cost per travel is $2000.00. Good morning! It has been several months since we have had the pleasure of booking our clients to their favorite destinations. It's sad to think of beautiful resorts like the Riu Dunamar that are sitting there empty or at least not as full as they typically would be. We thought it would be a great time to start highlighting some of the resorts that we feel will be great places to book you to once you feel ready to travel again. We are happy to use any airline but as of today... we feel most confident booking you with Sunwing as we know they offer one of the best cancellation waivers any airline has. We highly recommend for your convenience that you pay the $50 per person and get this even if you have cancellation insurance elsewhere (Trust us, it is worth it)! This waiver allows you to cancel up to 3 hours before your departure for ANY reason and receive a credit with Sunwing. They are also offering insurance with Sunwing which we truly appreciate! Right now there is no additional charge but I would image there will be. Our Hotel in the spotlight: Riu Dunamar Playa Mujeres, Mexico Last year we really enjoyed the Riu Dunamar for it's private location.
