RESCUE NEWS Today this beautiful Northern girl who we have named Aurora, has joined the K9C family. She is just 10-months old and absolutely gorgeous inside... and out. Aurora is just a bundle of pure love, instantly warming up to everyone she meets including other dogs, kitties, the vet clinic staff she met while undergoing a spay surgery and of course the amazing Freedom Drivers: Animal Rescue Transports crew who brought her to our loving arms earlier today. We know this girl now has a bright and happy future to look forward to, and we can't wait to share updates along the way! Welcome to your next chapter, Aurora!
FOSTER-TO-FOREVER NEWS!! In the words of his new Forever Mom "This is the best thing I have ever failed at!" Eddie (left) landed in Canada Friday Feb 5t...h after being rescued on the streets of Mexico by our partnering rescue The Dog-Go Project, and it didn't take his new sister Daisy long to let the family know she had found her new bestie and Eddie was home to stay! Eddie has stolen the hearts of his new family and we could not be happier. Sending a GIANT congratulations and best wishes for a lifetime of happiness ahead! See more

THANK YOU is not a big enough word to express our deep gratitude for our friends at Kibble 4 Paws who delivered a very generous supply of high quality dog food right to our doorstep today! With the many medical cases we have in our care, it is so nice to have this support, which provided us with prescription, puppy and senior formula based diets so that we can feel confident we are putting only nutritious food in our furry tummies! #ittakesavillage #agratefulheartisamagnetformiracles
It took us the night to collect our thoughts and emotions enough to be able to sit and write a post letting you all know that our beautiful Keebah has gotten hi...s angel wings. Sadly, his decline continued into the evening to the point where he needed a sling and the assistance of three RVTs to be able to get up and walk, and we could not ask him to give any more than he already he had in this fight. Thankfully, he was able to spend some very special time with his dedicated foster family before he made the very easy and peaceful transition and we believe he is now free of pain and suffering, and running, fully restored at the Bridge until we all meet again. Thank you to our always incredible community for your outpouring of love and support, and the amazing, compassionate and dedicated staff at Cavan Hills Veterinary Services who did all they could while ensuring Keebah was comfortable and loved during his time with them. Special thanks to Dorothy of Hooves and Paws Photography for creating this gorgeous digital watercolour memorial portrait of Keebah, and of course to his Foster Mama, who fell hard for this amazing dog and whose heart is hurting so much today. Good bye, friend...
KEEBAH UPDATE Unfortunately we don't have the same good news to share about our gentle giant, sweet, beautiful Keebah as we did with Becker. Keebah's ultr...asound was done yesterday which revealed some free blood in his abdomen as well as several nodules which they aspirated to take a closer look at under a microscope. Sadly, his medical team feel we may be dealing with lymphoma, but Keebah is not well enough to undergo the exploratory surgery and biopsy that would be needed for a definitive diagnosis. While there have been tiny improvements in some areas of his bloodwork, (likely due to the intense treatment he has been receiving), for the most part things are heading in the wrong direction including increased edema in his back legs, and we had the very difficult conversation about his quality of life. The decision was made to keep him comfortable and see if anything turns around over the course of the day. He will be having a visit with his dedicated foster family outside the clinic this evening (which is actually perfect as Keebah LOVES being outside in the cold and snow), and further decisions will be made at that time. Please keep Keebah in your heart and prayers as we head into this evening...and updates will follow.
THE DIFFERENCE THAT JUST HOURS CAN MAKE
Medical Case Dog #2 It is heartbreaking to have to share the news that our Christmas Miracle dog, Becker, has had a setback in his recovery. Unfortunately he recently started to show the same signs and symptoms he was having while in the pound, and yesterday we rushed him to Cavan Hills Veterinary Services where he was sedated, examined and xrays were taken...all pointing to the conclusion that the first surgery had failed, and he will require a second attempt at a repair.... Sadly the odds of success are a little smaller the second time around, but we want to give him one more chance as he, like Keebah is an amazing soul who has nothing but love in his heart for every human and animal he meets. While we have not received another estimate, the cost for yesterday's assessment and diagnostics totaled $418.37 and we are anticipating a similar cost for the second surgery of approximately $1,500-$1600 which is a little lower than the first as we will not be removing any masses and sending them off for histology this time around.

Hot Off The Presses!
Charley Update This handsome little guy had his vet visit earlier today, and xrays showed our suspicions were correct and there is a bladder stone that will... have to come out. As well, his teeth need a little work and it is mostly likely that some extractions will be necessary to clean up the infection in his mouth. First thing's first though, and we have started with a thorough wellness panel to ensure there are no other underlying issues. While we await the results, Charley is in the best hands with his amazing foster family who are taking exceptional care of him and making sure he is comfortable and well-loved... See more
