High energy performance of 'Bukovynian Patterns' on a glorious sunny day! We miss performing at our favourite festivals, including Ivana Kupala at Hawkestone. Fun fact: Kalyna dancers were so eager to debut our new Buko dance at Ivana Kupala that we performed it in our rehearsal attire, because our brand new costumes weren't in yet!

Our Artistic Director Stefan Kuziw taught a Master Class with the Iskra Ukrainian Dance Ensemble of New Jersey today. We're eagerly looking forward to when Iskra's Artistic Director Andrij Cybyk teaches Kalyna dancers in the near future!

Happy International Women's Day!

Province to province, our love of Ukrainian dance remains the same. Yesterday evening, dancers from the Ukrainian National Federation's Kalyna (Toronto) and Rusalka (Winnipeg) rehearsed together during lockdown in our homes via zoom. We welcome all opportunities to share our passion and collaborate in new ways, perhaps in person one day!

Those pre-covid rehearsal feels. Although we miss rehearsing together in the studio, we're thankful we can continue online rehearsals to keep us motivated and developing our technique until it's safe to dance together in person again

Heartfelt thank you to Vincent Rees - founder Cobblestone Freeway Tour - for presenting an introduction to the history of Kyiv Rus' virtually to our Kalyna dancers this evening. We are looking forward to learning more about the history of Ukraine and Ukrainian dance with you

Last year's anniversary video is so full of great memories, we had to share it again!

It's been an interesting year to say the least, but we're proud to say we've made the absolute most of it! The Ukrainian National Federation - Toronto Branch's KALYNA is celebrating its 4 year anniversary this week. It's hard to believe that 4 years of hard work, dedication, and unforgettable memories have already passed, but we are so so grateful for the experiences, the SWEAT, and the relationships we have nurtured along the way. Stefan Marko Kuziw takes you into the UNF Dance Studio to show you how we have continued to rehearse safely during the pandemic. We also sanitize our hands and clean the ballet barres, table, door handles and light switches before and after each rehearsal in additional to the UNF daily cleanings. As of yesterday, our studio needed to close for a month but we will continue to meet online twice per week for ballet and new choreography as well as Ukrainian dance education lessons. If you’re interested in attending an online rehearsal, let us know!

Welcome to the opening ceremonies of the 24th annual Toronto Ukrainian Festival! We would like to thank this year's parade marshalls - all of the tireless frontline workers - who have been working hard, with love, to keep us all safe in these unprecedented times. In this video, we perform for residents and staff of the Toronto's long-term care homes as an act of gratitude and respect for those who are most affected by these difficult times. We hope you enjoy!

Today is the 24th annual Toronto Ukrainian Festival. We planned to have a live performance at Ontario Place, however to keep everyone safe, the festival has switched gears to an entirely virtual platform. Festival organizers have done an incredible job incorporating many of our favourite aspects of the festival into the virtual format and we are proud to offer you entertainment from the safety of your home this year.
