May I suggest treating yourself to some decadent Cheddar Chive Biscuits? These are the flakiest ever. Like, seriously, ever. Some baked up a bit askew as I cut them before freezing, causing the cut edge to compress a bit (note to self, cut when fully chilled). Recipe comes from @meilin21 and may be found in her Hi...ghlights, saved under biscuits (I’ll link it in my Stories). Make sure each ingredient, including your flour is chilled, and these flaky layers will emerge! If you have never baked biscuits before, dive in and give these delightful ones a try. You won’t be disappointed! To one batch I added hot Calabrian chili and served them with honey. I can’t recommend this enough! The first batch I baked up virtually with my baking buddy, @hettymckinnon, and we had so much fun nudging and advising each other as we went. The brutal killing of 19 landless peasants by the police in Eldorado do Carajás massacre in Para, Brazil on the 17th of April 1996 shocked the world.... La Via Campesina, which was meeting in Tlaxcala, Mexico at that moment declared 17 April as the "International Day of Peasant Struggles" to keep alive the memory of those who were assassinated in Para and also to remember and defend all those around the world, who face repression and criminalization while struggling for agrarian reform and food sovereignty. 1996 was also a year when La Via Campesina presented a permanent vision to solve the crises facing the world. At the 1996 World Food Summit, held in Rome, where influential diplomats and policy makers from member states of the UN were in attendance, La Via Campesina put forth its vision to solve the pressing problem of hunger, malnutrition and poverty that exist in the world. It was at this Summit that the peasant movement coined Food Sovereigntyas the right of peoples to nutritious and culturally appropriate, accessible, sustainably and ecologically produced food and their right to decide on their own food and production system. This year we mark the 25th anniversary of both these events that defined our struggle and the path the global movement took in this long road towards social justice. Posted @withregram @whistlingwindranch Said we would post it yesterday, but took a bit of a day off (also had to find out why the oiler on the chain saw wasn’t working the day before when cutting rails.) So here we are, most of the rails peeled. Why do we peel the rails, why not just throw them up with the bark on? Cause they will rot out super fast with the b...ark trapping the moisture against the wood as it drys. The thinner the rail and how close it is to the ground really affects this, thin rails near the ground will rot in about 18 months and our time is important so a little extra work now saves us time in the long run. Next day or two we will get them up and onto the next project. For opening day, hours will be 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on St. Paul Street between 2nd and 3rd Avenue. They will run every Saturday until Oct. 30, regardless of the weather.... Midweek markets will be on Wednesday this year, beginning on May 5. These will run from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. just outside the TNRD Library on Victoria Street.
