In February, we all read a news item : Following an order by the High Court, the State government has re-fixed the RT-PCR test charges for COVID-19 in the private sector at 1,700. When the Indian Medical Association (IMA) approached the Kerala State Branch of Red Cross Society with a proposal to offer the RT PCR test at a cost of Rs.700 we did not waste any time! The facility is at the Red Cross Society premises for anybody who requires the RT PCR test and we hope this initiative will open the eyes of the courts and the government! Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana (PMGKY) Scheme for paying 24% of EPF from Govt Funds extended till AUGUST,2020 Under the PMGKY Scheme, the EPF Contributions in respect of establishments employing upto 100 employees and 90% of thereof drawing monthly wages less than Rs.15,000/- was paid from Government Funds. The Scheme was initially introduced for 3 months from April 2020 to June 2020 vide communication dated 14th July, 2020, the validity of the said scheme has been extended for a further period two months i.e., upto 31st AUGUST, 2020

In case of returns which were uploaded electronically by the taxpayer within the time allowed under section 139 of the Act and which have remained incomplete due to non-submission of ITR-V Form for verification, the income tax department now permits verification of such returns either by sending a duly signed physical copy of ITR-V to CPC, Bengaluru through speed post or through EVC/OTP modes. Such verification process must be completed by 30.09.2020.
