Massage therapy is manual therapy, and in its core it’s a passive therapy. You get on a massage table and have Someone (me) manipulate your muscles and joints. You get up feeling good, maybe a bit achy or sore but over all you feel pretty good. A couple of days go’s past and your shoulder starts to hurt again. So you book another massage, and you keep repeating that cycle over and over again with no real change. That’s why as a massage therapist I give you home care and exe...rcises to do at home. Everything you can do at home to help your injury only helps me get better results while you are on my table. Massage therapy is a 2 ways street, it requires me to prime your body to help itself and it requires you to put in the work to keep that healing going. I’m not magic and I can’t just fix you that’s not what massage therapy is. It’s working together to get the best results we can. Do you have a tight, or pinching pain in your hips, or tight lower back from sitting or driving? Try this stair lunge to hope open up your hips and stretch your hip flexors. Massage etiquette...... To remove or not remove your underwear that is the question. Well it all depends on your level of comfort and what is being treated. ... As a health professional I am taught how to drape to keep you safe and secure regardless of underwear. But that being said thongs and more cheeky styles make it easier to access the muscles of the while allowing me to tuck the sheet. Long boxers or full bottom styles may not allow for full access to the bottom of the hamstrings or glutes. But there are still ways to treat these areas though the sheet if you aren’t totally comfortable with going commando. Doing some self care with the cups to keep me moving. The funny thing about pain is that it doesn’t always originate where we feel it. I’ve been having some wrist, elbow and thumb pain for about 2 weeks now. I tried just treating at the site of the pain, with little relief. ... So after trying that I decided to move up, and look at the referral patterns of pain. Turns out my pain is actually coming from higher up in my shoulder and pectoral area. So I finally took my own advice and got a massage and some cupping treatment done! Cupping helps with fascial restriction , increase range of motion though the joint, and can go deeper in the muscle without causing great discomfort. The cup creates negative space, which then creates space between the skin and superficial layers of fascia. This allows for lymphatic drainage, and more movement in the muscle tissue and fascia. ... So you want to build strong glutes for aesthetic, Athletic, and strength purposes. Doing hip thrust is a great exercise to do all of those things. It’s an easy exercise to learn and master quickly, it allows for a large range of motion in the hips, it’s easy on the lower back and knees. Pick a bench that’s not to tall for you, you want the bottom of your shoulder blades to be at the edge of the bench when you are in position.... Elevate your feet if the bench is too tall. You want to keep your chin tucked to your chest, place the bar over your hips,push the weight up driving though your heels, push your knees out while driving to the top. You want to reach full hip extension to achieve peak glute activation.
