Meet Louhiss! He is a very friendly and affectionate 6 year old gentleman. He can be a bit nervous at first, but he absolutely loves hanging out with his foster human when he gets more comfortable. He loves cheek rubs, and will even let you know when he wants to be picked up and cuddled! Even though he loves attention and cuddling, he is just as content to sit by himself on the windowsill watching the world go by, or relaxing in his soft cat bed. He also loves to be high up, ...and is quite agile for such a big kitty. ADOPTED Hi. My name is Nala and I am looking for my forever family. I had to leave my last home at the tender age of 8 months because my family couldn’t look after me any more. My foster parents are very nice and they are calling me Nala because, as you can see, I have lovely markings that look a bit like a lion. You can call me whatever you like. Foster mom also calls me Floofy, I guess cuz I’m not really a long-hair, but I’m not a short-hair either. She says I have just... the right amount of floof. I love it when someone scratches my head and neck, forehead, chin, ears well, I love it when I get those loving scratches anywhere. They make me purr and purr and purr. I’m even ok with being picked up and held. I am very curious and am having fun exploring my foster home. I like to be around humans very much and I just got introduced to my foster mom’s dog. ADOPTED Seniors for seniors We hope that sweet Marmalades haircut didn't turn you off. You see Marm came to us severely matted and had to be shaved. These matts would've been EXTREMELY uncomfortable for him, and a large swath of fur ripped off of his side from extreme matting. Marmalade responds very favorably to a gentle hand, he's very approachable and gentle. We invested heavily in his care because his suffering to survive made him a cat most deserving of a better l...ife. We'd love to see Marmalade go to a nice quiet retirement home where he can warm his soft belly in a sunbeam and never have to struggle to find food and safety from the elements. Marmalade is all spruced up with nice clean teeth, updated vaccines, deworm, Revolution treatments to relieve him of those nasty ear mites that made him scratch his ears so bad it destroyed the cartilage. Marmalade is mostly, if not completely deaf, but he watches for commands and responses from you. He doesn't ask for much, just a kind hand to scritch his chin and a full belleh. Omg I'm obsessed with Farley. He was a stray in the Shuswaps for a year!! He was rescued by @beescats and her team @Shuswappawsrescue. Farley was so sadly abandoned by his family, discarded like trash when they moved. A poor sweet guy, intact and dumped, he was the unfortunate recipient of a few feral tomcat battles. Single Kitten Syndrome Many shelters and most rescuers won't adopt out a single kitten unless there is another young playful cat or kitten already in the home. Here's why- Recently Mary got a call from an old friend - a friend of her's had recently gotten a kitten that had been posted on a Next Door page - of course the kitten was free, but the costs associated with vaccines and neutering had not been considered - could Mary help? So, an appointment was made at the local cl...inic and Grayson was altered and vaccinated. A week later Mary got another call - could she take the kitten - the person didn't want him any more. He just wouldn't settle down, was extremely active, underfoot, into everything and destructive when the owner was at work. So, after a total of three weeks in the home as a single kitten he was no longer wanted. At least the owner made the effort to find a place for Grayson to go where he will have a chance to be rehomed with kitty friends to play with and learn from. Grayson is now enjoying the companionship of other kittens in his foster home while waiting for that purrfect forever home. Sadly when issues occur often the outcome is not so good. What we have found repeatedly is that single kittens adopted into homes without other young cats frequently develop behavioral problems. Two kittens playing together is one of the most entertaining activities in the world, both for you and for the kittens. Having two cats will also ensure that they are not lonely when you are away from home. A lonely cat can become neurotic and will sometimes let his/her owner know about their unhappiness by destructive behavior or inappropriate urination. This is not something most people would like to risk. So please, consider this when making adoption decisions.

ADOPTED This is Jet, he's approximately 5 years old. We recently received a call from a local vet asking if we could take in a big stray tomcat that was relinquished to them by a kind man. He was originally cared for by a neighbour who would feed him, but when that neighbour moved, the next door neighbor was passed on the task. Sadly that neighbour couldn't take Jet in as he was allergic.... Jet was fed but still homeless. He had been homeless for at least 2 years prior, but likely much longer. He was fed regularly by the neighborhood but never taken in, given vet care, vaccinated, neutered or given a home of his own, protected from the elements and a warm bed. We took in Jet He's a bit shy about the house but he is comfortable in the spare room where he eagerly awaits his foster mom for love and cuddles. He is so happy to have a home you wouldn't believe he was forced to survive for so long outside He's a gentle boy with a calm nature. He has some battle scars from his street life but he bares no inner trauma, only complete gratitude. We fixed him up and he's shiney as a new penny now. He's fully vaccinated, neutered, tattooed, teeth were cleaned and he had two extractions.
